  My wife found Charlotte Patisserie while looking for some of the best bakeries in NYC, and this was our first visit. From the street it looks like a fairly small, unassuming café, but once you walk in, it is a completely different story. The selection is huge. Beautiful French-style pastries, cakes, macarons, tarts, croissants, coffee, matcha, and even a full bar. We went for the more colorful fancy pastries from the display case rather than croissants. I honestly don't even remember all the names — one had “Cloud” in the name — but I definitely remember the taste. Everything we tried was fresh, beautifully made, and delicious. The Strawberry Matcha was excellent. The strawberry and matcha flavors were perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, and somehow it tasted even better than it looked — and it already looked amazing. We will absolutely order it again. Another thing that impressed us was the staff. We asked what several pastries were, what was inside them, how they were made, and what they tasted like. They knew exactly what they were selling and could actually describe each one instead of just pointing at a label. That makes a big difference. The biggest surprise is how much space is hidden behind the front café. There is a large, quiet seating area in the back and then a surprisingly big outdoor garden/patio with plenty of tables. Even the restroom was spotless and nicely designed. We spent around $30 for four pastries and the Strawberry Matcha to share, and it was worth every cent. For pastries of this quality and presentation in Manhattan, I would expect to pay considerably more. First visit, definitely not the last. Our new mission is to eventually try everything in that display case. 5 stars. Easy.

  I've been here multiple times over the years and everything I had was delicious. The desserts are flavorful, beautiful, and having g varying levels of sweetness, which is perfect for someone like me who is picky about desserts. The space is lovely and relaxing. Highly recommend a visit!
