  Today went there to buy a few things with my Mother (we've shopped there many times for a few years). While I was following my Mother down an isle a old man who works there cut in front on my path and told me that I was caught on security camera putting things in my pockets (mind you I'm dragging one of their shop baskets with items in it) and was threaten to have the police called on me for theft. I told him I didn't have anything in my pockets, that if he wanted to he can call the cops to check the camera footage and to check my pockets. Infact i told him with my arms out/up that if he wanted he could check my pockets himself and that he would find nothing. He lied about the office calling him to tell them I was stealing....the security office was empty and my Mother saw so he trying to shift blame. My Mother went into Mama bear mode and ripped them a new one, none of the supermarket employees came to his defense. Infact my mom had the support of a few customers shopping there at that moment. My mom asked to see the footage and she got no answers. First time in my 35 years of life that I've gotten accused of stealing....I DONT STEAL PERIODT. I feel bad for all the other people of color who have to go through this constantly.

  My first time experiencing racism in a supermarket. I shopped there for convenience but will never give them another dollar of my money. They won’t care because I’m a black male. The way I was treated was unwarranted. I had a bunch of empty 5gallon water bottles in my apartment from deliveries. I asked a store manager named “Lou”, if I could exchange them there for store credit. He initiated said no, and I accepted his answer. However, he began to feel bad and agreed to let me exchange 1 bottle per week for $5 in store credit. I exchanged another bottle a week after with a different manager, a short older guy that usually wears a blazer. He initially said no, but once I mentioned Lou, he approved it. Today, I attempted to buy 3 cassava roots, while exchanging the bottle for store credit. A different manager was in store today. He was tall skinny with gray hair and wore glasses if my memory serves me correctly. When the cashier called him over, he immediately approached me with attitude and a defiant no. I attempted to tell him what Lou told me, he then said no, that is impossible. I then asked him to call Lou, he then told me he doesn’t know a Lou and to come back in the morning when Lou works This information didn’t make any sense so I continued to just ask him to call Lou, the tall skinny mayor became more frustrated and began to yell at me. His cashier joined in as well and told me to get out the store, despite me never raising my voice once. I then told him “just because I’m black, doesn’t mean you have to treat me this aggressively. I’m calmly asking you to call Lou and you’re telling me you don’t know him and to come back later” The tall skinny store manager then put his finger in my face, yelled at me and told me to get out the store. The cashier then cursed at me in Spanish and told me to get out because the manager is done with me. I told them, “you racist people won’t care , but I will never give you another dollar of my money” Lou is a good guy I hope but the rest of them? Disgusting. And the produce is all moldy and stale. I even accidentally bought moldy unsalted peanuts.
