- JBjinaki brownAug 12, 20261.0I went to urgent care yesterday and they confirmed that I had salmonella after eating food I ordered from this restaurant on Friday night, August 7. My order included a chicken plantain sandwich, lentil soup, a side of goat, and a side of black rice. It is now Wednesday, and I am still very sick. I called the restaurant today because I wanted to make them aware of what happened, especially because I may not be the only person who got sick. I wasn’t calling to argue, ask for money, or threaten any kind of legal action. I simply felt they should know so they could look into it. When I asked to speak with a manager, the person on the phone went quiet for about a minute before telling me no manager was there. I started explaining what happened, and once I mentioned salmonella, she suddenly told me she didn’t speak English and didn’t understand what I was saying, even though we had been communicating in English without an issue before that. What bothered me most was the complete lack of concern or accountability. I have ordered from this restaurant at least twice before and never had an issue, but this experience was serious. Even a simple apology or acknowledgment of what happened would have gone a long way. Instead, I was left feeling like my concern was being dismissed. I felt it was important to leave this review so others can be aware and use caution when eating here.
