- JLJing Lin1 day ago1.0I just went to pick up a pizza that I ordered online. The staff member saw that I was a woman and Asian, and even after I gave him my name, he refused to give me the order. He kept asking for the name over and over, even though I had already given it to him. Since I wasn’t completely sure what name I had entered when placing the order myself online, he kept making jokes about my name and even asked other delivery drivers to “teach me” how to do it. I repeatedly explained that I was not a delivery driver and that I had placed the order myself. Only then did he finally give me my food. This was an extremely uncomfortable and disrespectful experience. It felt like he thought it was okay to make fun of me simply because I was a woman and Asian. Being a customer should not mean that someone can treat you this way or make you the subject of jokes. I came to pick up my food, not to be embarrassed or made fun of.

I lived in The Bronx a good portion of my life and discovered this place only after I was in NYC on a visit from Cleveland Ohio. In 2025 I moved back to NYC after 15 years, but to Queens, so it’s hard for me to get down there unless I visit family. But when I do I stop in and get pizza or a calzone. I really love the lasagne pizza, it’s my favorite thing from there. I’m a huge pizza snob and I do reviews of different foods around the city and Mario’s a place with that old school New York vibe in a modern setting around a great neighborhood for food and pastries. Mario’s is wonderful spot for good food, a must if you’re in The Bronx.
