Chef Darrell's Diner is a gastronomic oasis in a food desert. We rode in on a Monday afternoon of sweltering heat and flies, almost all eateries on ADK RT30 were closed. Literally a breath of fresh air. With quite a number of specials available, tough to make decisions being first timers. The Lobster Mac n Cheese and Blue Bacon Burger were excellent choices; Chef Darrell and Co made us feel welcome, as did the diner itself being very well kept. Can't wait to return and try more menu items. Thank you everyone!
Stopped yesterday while out an a motorcycle ride. Great food, and nice to see Darryl come out and talk with every customer to make sure everything was up to par
Chicken fried steak and eggs for lunch was a great option !
One thing I love when traveling is trying out local diners. Chef Darrell's Mountain Diner was above and beyond what I even thought was possible. I spent the weekend in the area recently and had the best Eggs Benedict for my birthday. I loved the atmosphere and the owner came out and mingled with customer's and was very welcoming!!!! Very neat story behind the diner itself. 10/10 incredible establishment 👏
Chef Darrell's Mountain Diner was an interesting experience. We had decided to take the long way home through the mountains and happened across this little place in time for a late Mother's Day lunch. They were swamped, but found room for my wife and I in the corner. As far as we could tell, the only people working were Chef Darryll and one waitress. Even so, our order (a bacon and bleu burger for me and a turkey club for my wife) quickly and our food came back after a reasonable (less than expected) wait. Here's the problem - I got a cheeseburger (no bacon, no bleu) and my wife's turkey club featured a huge slab of still cold turkey. My burger was good, just not what I ordered, and while I appreciate the generosity of the turkey, it was difficult to eat. This is the kind of place that I'd love to give five stars, and maybe on a day that's less crazy I could have. Either way, if I'm ever in Blue Mountain Lake again I'd give it another go.
The vibes at this diner are amazing. My friend and I came here after hiking Blue Mountain around 8:30 AM. We were immediately greeted by a waitress and ordered our drinks and asked for some time to order. We unknowingly had Chef Darrell sit at the front counter right beside us. Chef Darrell turned around on the chair and asked us if we had decided on what we were going to have for breakfast in an extremely welcoming way (+1000 aura points). Once we ordered he immediately started working on our meals and they both came out absolutely amazing. The diner has mugs, beer mugs, sweatshirts, hats and much more merchandise. I’m not one to buy merchandise from anywhere really but this diner has such an amazing feel and amazing staff I decided i’d buy a coffee mug and have Chef Darrell sign it, my friend purchased a bucket hat and also had Chef Darrell sign it. 100% recommend this place to eat.
