  The service has been wonderful both times I've come here, and they were absolutely great when I brought my kids along. I like that the kids plates are still real, homemade food, not just pre packaged junk. Nothing pre packaged here- everything is made in house and you can really tell. Best refried beans I've had, anywhere! Very fresh, 'lighter' and less greasy/cheese-heavy than other Mexican restaurants we typically eat at- but certainly not lacking in flavor. The birria is their special for a reason, it really is great. We'll be back, often!

  I have been wanting to try this place since I saw they were "coming soon" and even more excited to try it out after hearing rave reviews from friends. We finally made it for dinner last night and it is my new favorite restaurant! I haven't had Mexican food this good since I lived in Colorado! The birria is delicious, the tamales are perfection, and the chickpea salad is crave worthy!

  If you've hung out at the breweries or wineries in and around the Finger Lakes over the last couple years, you may be familiar with their successful food truck. Much like that food truck, the brick and Mortar here in Bloomfield (right across the street from Other Half Brewing) specializes in birria. Whether on nachos or in a quesadilla, burrito, sando/torta, or flauta, their birria will not disappoint. If you're like me and love the consumé, make sure to order a side of it with the burrito or torta because those two don't have it standard. If you can, come on a Friday or Saturday for their dope pork tamale option too. We will be back to try a variety of other items, but the birria torta and burrito were excellent. The tamale were also fantastic. Satisfying and filling, we did not leave hungry or empty handed. The spicy chick pea salad, while not exactly spicy in my opinion, was quite tasty. The rice and beans were above average too which is a big deal for me. The service was prompt and friendly to match the vibe and food. Come support this place if you're close. Not a ton of Mexican options in the area, let alone a high-quality establishment like this. If you're gonna have a beer across the street, stop in afterwards and you'll be rewarded.

  La Monarka is an absolute GEM, and I’m already looking forward to going back! We started with the chips & guacamole and the Papas a la Diabla, and…. WOW. Everything was so fresh, flavorful, and delicious. You can immediately taste the authenticity in the food — this isn’t just Mexican-inspired food, it feels like the real deal, made with care and tradition. I had the veggie quesadillas with rice, and they were absolutely delicious. The flavors, textures, seasoning — everything was on point. My boyfriend had the birria nachos, which were not only HUGE but completely loaded with deliciousness. We were both doing that thing where you take a bite and immediately look at each other like, “Oh yeah… this is GOOD.” And the experience was made even sweeter by Rosa and Tori, who were both so incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely lovely. That kind of hospitality makes such a difference and made our visit feel even more special. Between the authentic, ridiculously delicious food, generous portions, cozy atmosphere, and the sweetest people, La Monarka has officially made its way on my list of places I can’t wait to return to. Come hungry, leave happy, and definitely order the Papas a la Diabla.

  I ordered the camarones zarandeados(shrimp). My company order the chicken flautas. The shrimp came with rice,beans and pico. Also had some cucumbers that tasted kinda like vinegar on the side. The shrimp and sauteed onions were good . Put it on the tortilla with the pico and some beans and rice. The beans were good. Different from other Mexican places I've been to.You could tell they were in house made. They still had some pieces of beans in them that hadn't quite been mushed. Everything appeared and tasted very fresh. Overall I enjoyed the shrimp.My company really liked the chicken flautas. The sauce that came with both of them was pretty spicy. It tasted good you could tell it was fresh and in house made. Also had the tortilla chip appetizer with corn . It was ok you could definitely taste the smokiness. Wish they had more appetizers to choose from besides different tortillas chips with dips or sauces. The portions aren't huge. They are decent. Enough for you to eat and not feel disgustingly overfull. Not enough to really have left overs. Overall it was a nice experience. Worth stopping in to check out. I liked that everything appeared fresh and in house made definitely a plus.
