  This is my first and hopefully last negative post. I respond in defense of the negative feedback given to Stop and Shop in Bay Terrace. It is a busy store and products sell out quickly; there are just too many people who live in this area. All this aside, the store is clean, staff lovely. Today however I had a horrible experience. I went to the self check out with the belt because I had more than a few items. A women quickly ran ahead of me with her armful of groceries to go ahead, but no big deal. She did her transaction; I gave her one of my shopping bags. I guess she did not read that this was a no cash machine and wanted cash back. When the red error message came, she summoned a front end person for help. A young man came and hastily told her she did not read and could not get cash back, but her order was complete. He then told me "move, you can't use this machine"....I said, it is not my fault and my whole order is on the belt.....he said "too bad, machine is broken you have to move". Really. I told him can someone help me. I have to put everything back in my wagon and look for another checkout? This is ridiculous and not fair. He told me to stop talking and if I didn't like it to "leave". I said are telling me to get out of the store??? He replied "yes, I am done with you" Can you imagine???? I was furious. I threw my items back into my wagon and searched for another cashier. I was telling her how rude he was and that he actually told me to leave. I then went to the manager to tell her he needs a serious personality adjustment and who the hell is he to tell me to leave a store!!! Does he own it??? I am still so upset over this and think maybe I should have left, with all my items on the belt, but I carefully make purchases that I need. I have been shopping here for 14 years and never encountered anyone like this. Everyone prior to this has been so nice. I will have to rethink my store at this point and not defend this place anymore. I plan to report this do the district office.

  Best prices in the area. My wife and me shop here every week. It's not perfect, but it's great if you're not looking to spend like a drunken sailor every time you go to the grocery store!

  Stop and shop is a great place to buy groceries. FREE parking lot and easy to get to. It is recommended you use the app to get digital coupons and save more.

  That is VERY NICE grocery store that has so much. The baked chicken was GOOD.
