The experience was great - atmosphere, service, ease of process. The food itself, unfortunately, was the disappointing part. We had fried calamari as our appetizer, which was great. However, this is when we discovered the marinara sauce left something to be desired and changed the side selection from pasta to extra vegetables. Everything came out absolutely doused in butter - vegetables, scallops added to the steak, and the shrimp scampi sauce. The steaks themselves were good cuts and pretty close to cooked to temp (my rare was more of a medium rare), but the taste was horrible. I was surprised it wasn't cooked in a garlic finishing butter with lighter char, given the liberal amount of butter used elsewhere in the meal. This was the first time I've gone home with an entire steak to doctor it and make it enjoyable. The char just made the meat taste burnt and underwhelming. I added mushrooms to my steak (for $4) and was horrified to realize these are likely canned mushrooms that tasted awful, took them off entirely. I got a titos lemonade and it was very cheap and the drink maker was definitely heavy handed with the alcohol, which was a perk. The side salads were great. All in all, I would not go back. A total $180 dinner (with tip) that neither of us found appetizing at all. I'm sure this is right up other people's alleys, but as the guy who orders steak everywhere (with mushrooms and crumbly Bleu when available, steakhouse or not), this was disappointing.
