Extremely welcome new entry into the fine dining scene of South Lake Tahoe. There has been a desperate need for a new entry and a more formal luxury entry and this restaurant absolutely fits the bill without destroying itself with a gimmicky star chef. Pretty much everything was perfect at this restaurant the food was fantastic the service was over the top comfortable and friendly. The place is very nice and upscale and this is needed as many of the upscale restaurants in Lake Tahoe have disappeared or stopped being high end. Another surprise bonus was live music during the dinner and that was a wonderful addition. This is not a jeans and T-shirt type of restaurant.
Mastro’s Tahoe has only been open three days, but stepping inside felt like being transported back to an era when the Rat Pack might’ve been holding court at the next table.
The service from Ross and Jay was impeccable, not the kind where you feel peppered with constant “is there anything I can get for you?” check-ins, but a consistent rhythm of being pampered and informed in equal measure.
The menu is dense in the best way, even going so far as to offer personalized (ahem lemon) butter!! It’s the sort of place where you might not know what to choose unless someone guides you, and Ross was incredibly helpful in steering us toward the perfect dinner. He made the whole experience feel like something from a long-forgotten past.
The music was also phenomenal, upbeat and modern with a live piano player setting the tone. The lighting is sexy, and the dark ambience feels masculine yet inviting and warm. I haven’t had a better meal in a long time, and Ross and Jay truly set a new yardstick for service.
Excellent work, gentlemen.
We loved this place. We felt like we weren’t in South lake but in LA or Newport. My boyfriend and I are very picky and I’m a server so slightly judgy. Dan was our server and he was fantastic. He knew the menu, was very informative on all the gluten free meals, and was funny. Food was delicious as always. We are so happy to have mastros in South lake, feels like home to us.

We genuinely felt like we’d teleported out of South Lake Tahoe for a couple hours. The restaurant brings the same level of food and service we’ve experienced at the Southern California locations. Elena is a tremendous server and knew the menu inside and out. We ordered more than we could possibly eat and enjoyed every minute of our time there. Can’t wait to stop in for a glass of wine and a steak at the Chicago or New York feeling bar/lounge.

Absolutely uncalled for not letting someone from Houston who is a VIP with Tillman establishments. Wanted to have a drink while everyone is having drinks in the bar. Soft opening or not you don’t treat people like that. Had the doors closed on us. I will never eat or gamble at this location again. 👋👋
