After searching for a few steakhouses, The Chart House stood out because of its beautiful view and great reviews. We decided it was a must-try and made a reservation through OpenTable for 7:45 PM. We started with the kimchi calamari, followed by the New York strip and the 14 oz. prime rib. When I tell you it’s rare for a steakhouse to get both land and sea dishes just right, this place truly knows what they’re doing! Everything was cooked perfectly, tender, hot, and full of flavor. Nothing was lacking. The customer service was also wonderful. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and helpful. And, just as the reviews described, the view was absolutely beautiful, especially while watching the sunset. We’re already looking forward to coming back to celebrate special occasions. We didn’t get a chance to try happy hour, but the prices and options looked great—definitely another reason to return!

We were only in Tahoe for a couple of days..and before we even arrived my boyfriend said he wanted to take me to Chart House to celebrate my birthday. I’d read the reviews beforehand some were glowing..others not so much but I still wanted to experience the views and the food for ourselves and decide from there. We arrived a little early for our reservation and didn’t mind waiting. My boyfriend had specifically requested a window seat so we could enjoy the scenery. After about 10 minutes the hostess came over and said they didn’t have a window table available right then..but they did have a booth one seat back from the window. I asked if we could see it first. It wasn’t actually near the window..so we politely declined and said we’d keep waiting. She was wonderful about it and more than happy to accommodate us. Another 10 minutes later we were seated at a table right by the window with a beautiful view. I was so glad we held out and didn’t settle for the booth. Charlotte was our server. It was very busy..but she tried her best to be attentive..and honestly we didn’t mind being left alone with the nice view and conversation with each other. Shout out to Charlotte! She was great! We shared a Cobb salad as an appetizer..and Charlotte happily made a bunch of modifications for us since neither of us likes a lot of different vegetables. For our entrées my boyfriend ordered the steak + lobster tail and I got the Chart House 10 oz prime rib. I told her I wanted my meat rare “if the cow is still mooing..that’s fine with me” and she delivered. It was perfectly red and delicious. The mashed potatoes were wonderful too..and the pomegranate mojito was strong but really good. My boyfriend’s steak was cooked exactly how he likes it (medium rare) and the lobster tail was excellent..he said it was actually bigger than he expected. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service at Chart House. Don’t let the mixed reviews scare you away..come experience it for yourself and decide. We don’t know when we’ll be back in Tahoe..but when we do return..we definitely want to come here again.

We went to the Chart House in South Tahoe for the first time last week. We have always loved the Chart House in Mammoth and Monterey, CA. For starters, they never brought us any bread to the table and we watched all the other tables get bread. I was brought the wrong wine and then had to ask for the correct wine. I ordered sea bass and it was super dense and rubbery. I sent it back and the replacement sea bass was not much better. I was told by the waitress maybe I needed a steak knife. Just an FYI, sea bass should be edible with a fork. The icing on the cake was I woke up very sick to my stomach so I am pretty sure I got food poisoning. We were so sad to see a place we loved for its quality, go so down hill.

I ate at Chart House and unfortunately, the service was absolutely horrible from start to finish. Our server repeatedly mentioned that she had just started. I completely understand being new, but that doesn’t excuse the number of things that were forgotten or how long we were left waiting. We ordered our adult drinks, our child’s apple juice, and our child’s food at the same time. Somehow, our child’s food came out before the apple juice or our drinks. The waitress completely forgot about the apple juice, and I actually had to go to the bar myself to order it. By the time I did that, we had already been waiting for quite a while. It then took over 30 minutes to get our adult drinks. By the time we were finally able to order our food, we had already been there for about 45 minutes, and my child was completely finished eating. When our food finally arrived, the mashed potatoes were cold, and the vegetables we ordered were completely forgotten and never brought to the table. At that point, we had already spent so much time waiting that the entire experience had become extremely frustrating. I understand that restaurants can get busy and that new servers need time to learn, but there were simply too many things forgotten and too much time spent waiting. Unfortunately, the food and service did not live up to what I expected from Chart House. 100% do not recommend based on this experience.

Very good food. We got the appetizer that had 4 or 5 of their apps on it. It came out smoking from dry ice, which was fun. 9 out of 10. We also got a linguine which was not that good. 3 out of 10. Had weird flavors that didn't work together. It was all over the place. Ceasar salad was ok, I probably opt for one of the soups instead. It was 6 out of ten. We also got prime rib. It was good. Good at a perfect medium like I asked, it came with mashed potatoes. 9 out of 10. Flavors were very good. But I still think Texas Road House has the best prime rib. Which is crazy for a chain. The atmosphere at chart house is 10 iut of 10. So is the service. We did get a hot lava cake with ice cream. It was the best one of those I've ever had. 10 out of 10 on that. I would go back for a special occasion. My check was 150ish without a tip for 2 people. Definitely get the prime rib and the big appetizer. Skip the salads and linguine.
