I came to Las Vegas to celebrate my best friend’s birthday. Unfortunately, our experience at Cadillac Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar was one of the worst examples of customer service we’ve encountered in a long time. My friend and I arrived at approximately 8:45 PM. Ahead of us were two other groups waiting to be seated—a party of two and a party of five. After several minutes of standing at the entrance with no communication from staff, a host finally came out and informed everyone that the restaurant was closing at 9:15 PM, despite the restaurant’s posted hours showing it was open until midnight. We were excited all day to have the “famous gauc” too. The situation became far worse when a waitress approached the front. Rather than apologizing for the confusion or speaking professionally, she immediately displayed a rude, dismissive attitude and bluntly stated, “It’s slow, so we’re closing early.” That explanation made little sense considering there were already nine paying customers standing at the door waiting to be seated. What happened next was completely unacceptable. In front of customers, the waitress told the host that if any of us were seated, she would not serve us. As paying guests who arrived during posted business hours and before the restaurant’s stated last call, hearing an employee openly refuse service was shocking and incredibly unprofessional. The attitude only continued to deteriorate. The waitress repeatedly used profanity while speaking and appeared openly annoyed that customers dared to show up during business hours. When I calmly pointed out that there was no reason to be rude, the employee doubled down on her behavior. Another guest from a separate party also spoke up, yet the hostility and dismissive attitude continued. Restaurants can close early. Staffing shortages happen. Slow nights happen. What should never happen is an employee openly refusing to serve customers, using foul language, and treating guests with contempt for simply walking through the door during posted operating hours. In today’s economy, turning away paying customers is certainly a choice. Doing so while openly expressing hostility, refusing service, and using profanity in front of guests reflects extremely poorly on the restaurant and management team. What should have been a fun birthday dinner became an experience defined by unprofessional behavior and a complete lack of hospitality. Based on this experience, I would not return and cannot recommend this restaurant to others visiting Las Vegas. I happily spend my money at another establishment next to this awful place.

Came to celebrate my birthday in Vegas last night and unfortunately the experience started -and ended -at the door. My friend and I arrived at 8:45 PM, and there were already two groups waiting ahead of us: a party of two, a party of five, and then us. After several minutes of waiting, the host finally came out and informed everyone that the restaurant was closing and that last call was at 9:15 PM - despite online hours showing the restaurant open until midnight. Naturally, everyone waiting was confused. What turned a disappointing situation into a completely unacceptable one was the attitude of another employee, who appeared to be a waitress. Instead of offering a polite explanation or apologizing for the confusion, she approached with an unnecessarily rude and dismissive attitude and stated, “It’s slow so we’re closing early” -you have 9 people waiting to sit. Even more concerning, the waitress openly told the host that if any of us were seated, she would not serve us. Hearing that as paying customers -who had arrived during posted business hours -was both unprofessional and shocking. That statement alone was surprising. In a struggling economy, turning away paying customers already standing at your door - especially 30 minutes before your own stated last call and hours before your posted closing time -is certainly a business choice, but delivering that message with open hostility is something else entirely. When my friend calmly said there was no need to be rude, the employee doubled down. Another guest from a separate group even spoke up, yet the dismissive attitude and smug demeanor continued. Restaurants can close early. Staffing issues happen. Slow nights happen. What should never happen is staff treating guests with contempt for simply showing up during posted business hours. Hospitality is more than serving food -it’s how people are treated. Telling a host you refuse to serve waiting guests and displaying open hostility toward customers reflects poorly on the establishment and undermines the entire dining experience before it even begins. Disappointing experience and an unfortunate way to celebrate a birthday in Vegas.
