I’m leaving this review because of the inconsistent pricing policy and how management handled a very simple issue, not because of 54 cents. I placed an Order Ahead order through the SONIC app at this location that included a 6-piece mozzarella sticks for $4.99. I inadvertently did not select marinara when placing the order. When I picked up my food and requested marinara, I was told I had to pay for it because I had not selected it in the app. I was then charged $0.54 for two marinara packets. Here is the problem: the SONIC app for this exact location allows me to add up to three marinara packets to the same $4.99 mozzarella sticks without increasing the item price. I went back into the app and verified this and have a screenshot documenting it. This is also inconsistent with how dipping sauces are presented with other menu items. Items such as popcorn chicken and chicken tenders have dipping-sauce selections included with the order. I completely understand charging a customer who has already received the included sauces and then requests additional ones. What I do not understand is charging for a sauce that would have been provided at no additional cost had I simply checked the box in the app before submitting my order. When I questioned the discrepancy, the manager told me that the SONIC app is “third party.” That did not answer my question. This location accepts and fulfills orders placed through SONIC’s branded ordering platform, and the app specifically displays the options and pricing for this location. I also asked whether customers are charged individually for ketchup and mustard packets if they forget to select them when ordering. I was trying to understand whether this was a consistent condiment policy. My question was never answered. I subsequently contacted SONIC Customer Service and spent approximately an hour on the phone discussing this issue. The representative agreed with my concern, but the only resolution they were able to offer was points toward a future purchase. That resolution misses the point. I was not looking for free food or rewards. I wanted clarification and correction of an inconsistent practice. If a customer selects the sauce while ordering, there is no additional charge. If the customer does not want sauce, the restaurant does not have to provide it. But under the policy explained to me, if a customer does want the included sauce but inadvertently fails to select it before submitting the order, the restaurant then collects an additional fee for it. That creates a situation where the restaurant receives additional revenue for something that otherwise would have been provided with the item at no additional charge. At minimum, that practice deserves a clear explanation and consistent disclosure to customers. What concerns me most is that something this trivial could have been resolved by simply providing the marinara that the app allows with the mozzarella sticks or clearly explaining the policy. Instead, it turned into a separate transaction, an unanswered question from management, and approximately an hour with Customer Service. I would be cautious about returning to this location after this experience. If this much difficulty arises over two marinara packets, it does not give me confidence in how a more significant order or billing issue would be handled. I have both receipts and screenshots documenting the app pricing and sauce selections. This was never about 54 cents. It was about consistent pricing, transparency, and basic customer service.

I remember when this was THE sonic for Rio Rancho, now all that awaits you is a dirty exterior and a 45m-1hr wait for sub par food and not so much as a sorry from staff. Go somewhere else!

Ordered 2 ocean water slushes one that had Ice cream and the other with lemon. We received 2 plain slushes and got charged for the wrong things. 3 people left due to long wait times and there’s 3+ employees…

All the food was old.My hot dog tastes like it came from the ground. And I think all sonics in the nation have come together and have decided to never give you your whole entire order, or your sauces or napkins or anything you ever need. It's been many years since I have ever come across a sonic that actually is decent.
