  This reviews covers a lunch meal today, 27 August 2026. The Meal ordered was the meal-sized loaded hummus plate. In a word: disappointing. First, service: I ordered this meal online at 11.20 am, with a pickup time at 11.45. Due to traffic, I actually arrived at closer to 12 pm. There appeared to be only 1 worker, who was both preparing food and taking orders. One woman was waiting for her order, while another woman, possibly the owner, stood to the side taking no heed of anyone as she spoke with two men on what seemed to be business. I waited 5 minutes before the man asked me if I was there for a pickup order. He still had some preparation to do before he gave me my order. He was polite but he did not seem to have a sense of urgency. Second, the food: the vegetables were a good mix, well cut as needed, colorful, and fresh. That was really the best part of the meal. Both the falafel (4 pieces) and the pita pieces were dry, even stale. The Hummus looked great, and it had a good texture and color but like the rest of the non-vegetables, it was bland. As in, no seasoning. Price-wise it was what I expected, i.e., a bit high, given the difficulty of maintaining a downtown location in Albuquerque. I did not eat in the small dining area but it appeared to be clean and orderly. All in all, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

  We went in for lunch the other day. 2 people were behind the counter - neither said hello or a single word to us. No other customers. It is a small, sterile place. Not welcoming at all. And the weirdest- no delishous aromas. Srsly. Then there is a kiosk, and we figured out this is how you're suppose to order. I'm sorry - this is not an airport. Still, we tried. We stood there. My friend just from knee surgery and limping with a cane. The menu was confusing. At least to us and it would have been obvious to the people behind the counter if we weren't being ingnored when we kept looking their way. The only thing obvious is they could not have been less concerned - they genuinely would not acknowledge us. Heads down, talking to each other. We're not completely dense so after 10 minutes or so managed to pick out a couple things but the prices, we were noticing, were rather high - which would be fine if 1 - we had been welcomed in 2 - saw other customers enjoying great looking dishes 3 - anyone communicated with us about the dishes and/or ordering system 4 - they acknowledged the difficulty my friend was having standing and offered a seat and a paper menu 4 - we knew from the atmosphere that it was going to be great Since all of these most common restaurant elements were missing, and we felt uncomfortable, and realizing the prices were high, we opted to leave. Still not a word from anyone 'working' there. We went next door to LuLu's. Our whole family has loved LuLu's for years! The second we walked in it was joyous hellos, smiles, other happy customers, the amazing aromas. We relaxed immediately. We each ordered the lunch special - delicious egg drop soup, fried veggie roll, entree with rice. Excellent, kind service and excellent atmosphere. Less than $30 for 2 including tip. The folks next door at Yalla Shawarma should try it since it's apparent they completely misunderstand the restaurant industry. From other reviews this is possibly the least of their concerns because ALL is forgivable when the food is delicious. Fortunately Abq has a plethora of truly amazing Mediterranean restaurants. This is not one of them.
