About

Mexican RestaurantCatererChicken RestaurantFast Food Restaurant
While some things have changed over the last few decades, El Pollo Loco's delivery of fresh, authentic food has not. Everything starts with whole chickens that are slowly marinated in a special recipe of herbs, spices, fruit juices and garlic. The chicken is then expertly fire-grilled to perfection the authentic way - on our signature open-flame grills - then hand cut into your favorite Mexican entrees. We put that same dedication and care into our handmade guacamole, salsas and dressings every day. At El Pollo Loco in Albuquerque, NM, we believe that when real food meets real fire the result is great taste that will keep you coming back again and again.

It is truly beyond me why this restaurant does not have better ratings. Every single time me and my family have ordered food from here it has been consistently fresh, delicious, and quality! We’ve only gotten a mistake in our order once, and we do come here quite often. I can’t say much else about the service because we only order takeout and order on the digital pad, so we do not have interactions with the staff. They do seem like friendly, hard workers though from my observations! Like I said previously, consistency is the biggest thing I’ve noticed here which I love. Portion sizes and food quality are always exceptional, and for the amount of food you get, the prices are not bad. Sometimes the chicken can be slightly dry but it truly is not bad, it is also extremely well flavored. Everything here is well flavored on that matter: from the sauces, the veggie mixtures, rice, etcetera, it’s all quite tasty. You can say whatever you want but you can’t call this food bland. As for the inside, it is very clean and pleasant, including the bathrooms. The decor is friendly and colorful.

Pros: ✅ Everything looks clean, even the bathrooms. Food quality 👍 excellent 👍 Service Location Some sauces were free Cons: 📛 I feel that the amount of food for the price should be more ($32 for 2 people). We didn't like the flan, it tasted like Jell-O. I will definitely go back because the quality of the food and the service were great.

I am disgusted by the lack of good customer service 😔... the girls at the drive thru were rude and mean 😔. They did not provide me with fork's, no napkins, I also asked for corn tortillas and I got flour 🤨😠. I also asked for green sauce and Serrano chilies and got nothing. These girls need to be better trained or replaced. Very disappointed 😞.

I’d been hesitant to go because of the large number of 1-star reviews, but I was running an errand in the strip and decided to give it a try, I wasn’t disappointed. We got there a little before noon. Service was quick and the food was good. The chicken - both grilled and tenders - was a bit too dry for me, but my daughter thought it was fine, which is why I gave it 5 rather than 4 stars. It wasn’t so dry as to be bad, it just could have been juicier. I got the 3-piece breast-and-wing combo, which came with two breasts and one wing. The flavors were good. The chicken was not greasy. As sides, I got the corn, which was made with red peppers (tasty and not overwhelming), and mashed potatoes, which were reminiscent of KFC but lacked the artificial flavor those sometimes have. The tenders had a thin breading, which I prefer over thick. We got the spicy variety. They had a little bite, but definitely not New Mexico spicy. We ordered 3 pieces but received 4, all full-sized. We tried the flan for dessert. It tasted more like vanilla cake than caramel, but the texture was right. Not bad, but not really flan.

I have been a loyal customer of this location since the day they opened, and I usually visit every single day. Unfortunately, after my experience this past Sunday, I will not be returning. I placed an order for an 8-piece chicken meal and specifically spoke with the manager to request that the chicken be juicy and not dry or burnt. I make this request every time I visit. The manager personally assured me that everything was "fresh and juicy." However, when I got home, I was extremely disappointed to find that 4 out of the 8 pieces were completely burnt and very dry. It is frustrating to spend hard-earned money and receive poor-quality food, but I am mostly disappointed with the management. The manager clearly did not communicate my request to the kitchen staff, nor did she bother to check the order before handing it to me despite our conversation. After being a regular for so long, I expected much better service and attention to detail. I won't be going back.
