I had an extremely disappointing experience at this McDonald’s a few weeks ago while I was on vacation in the Toms River area with my elderly mother. After purchasing our food, I went back inside because my mother needed to take her medication. She was elderly and sitting in the car, and all I asked for was a small cup of water so she could take her medication. I was told that they normally sell bottled water, but if I needed a cup of water for my mother, she would have to physically come inside from the car and show identification proving that she was a senior before they would give her a cup of water. I could not believe what I was hearing. I explained that my elderly mother was in the car and simply needed a cup of water to take her medication. Instead of showing basic courtesy or compassion, I was told that she had to come inside and prove that she was a senior. So I had to go back outside, bring my elderly mother into the restaurant, and have her show her ID just to receive a cup of water. What made the situation even more frustrating was that when I said I would simply purchase a bottled water because I did not want to continue arguing about something so basic, I was told that there were no bottled waters available for purchase either. I have been to this McDonald’s before during vacations in the area, and I have always encountered employees who were courteous and helpful. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different. The younger employee I dealt with was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional, and the way this situation was handled was completely unnecessary. I understand that businesses have policies, and I understand that bottled water may be something they normally charge for. But requiring an elderly customer to leave the car, come inside, and present identification simply to receive a cup of water to take medication is, in my opinion, completely unreasonable. This was not someone asking for a free drink just because they wanted one. This was an elderly woman who needed water to take her medication after we had already purchased food from the restaurant. Customer service should include common sense, compassion, and basic human decency, especially when dealing with elderly customers. I hope management reviews what happened because this could have been handled in a completely different and much more respectful way. I have always believed that how a business treats people when they need a little understanding says a lot about that business. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression on me.

The man who gave our food was very very disrespectful. My friend asked for more cream and her Sprite berry blast, and the man said no. Then he said, just kidding in an angrily tone. after he came back with the Sprite berry blast, that he definitely did not add extra cream to, I asked him for a honey mustard. He gave me the dirtiest look and sighed. he acted like I asked him to run a marathon. I just wanted honey mustard. When he finally gave me my honey mustard, it took him literally three seconds. Please fix this, I almost called his manager because I was so disappointed and angry at this terrible service.
