I went today around 945 am just to get a few things to make egg bites for breakfast. Before I say anything, I just would like to start by saying I worked at a ShopRite for 3 years as a cashier and front end manager. When it comes to ringing up produce, I know the difference between quantity and weight. I go to self checkout and accidentally put in the wrong code for my peppers so I asked the employee to take it off so I can get the sale and re-ring it up. She kept going on the wrong screen and needed help. Mistakes happen I completely understand, but what matters to me is how you handle it and how you take accountability. She got somebody to take it off and I went to ring it up again under the right one. She took over and entered the code then when it asked for the amount I had she entered the code again but for some reason entered the first two numbers then put it in. She tried charging me for 46 peppers when I only had 3. She called a coworker over and proceeded to blame me for the whole thing when all I asked was the void one item. I looked at the coworker and told her what actually happened and how I didn’t even touch it, she looked at me with an attitude and goes “well what did you do enter 400 or something?” She just ignored what I said and proceeded to blame me for the entire thing. I asked if I could just take my stuff to another self checkout machine and she told me not to because they had to “fix what I did” but when I asked why not she just let me. Odd but whatever.
My point of this review is so management could address this type of rude, unprofessional, and unaccountable behavior. A customer SHOULD NOT be treated this way when just getting a few things and leaving. Jo either can’t handle the self checkout or wasn’t trained correctly. I didn’t get the other lady’s name but she was shorter with short brown hair. Like I said, mistakes happen and I get it. What matters is how you treat the customer after and taking ownership of your mistake rather than blaming the customer.

I have noticed that the atmosphere in this shop has become quite uncomfortable compared to the past. As a customer, I have observed interactions among some staff members that appear sarcastic and unprofessional, even in front of customers. This creates an unpleasant environment and can negatively affect the overall customer experience.
In addition, some newer employees seem to be treated unfairly or with a lack of respect. The attitudes displayed by certain staff members can come across as intimidating or judgmental toward both customers and colleagues. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their position, background, age, culture, or personal identity.
I believe the company hires its employees through proper legal and professional processes, and all staff members should be welcomed and supported accordingly. I encourage the shop to promote a more open-minded and inclusive environment that respects diversity and values people from different backgrounds. A positive workplace culture benefits employees, customers, and the business as a whole.
I hope management will consider these concerns and take steps to foster a more respectful, professional, and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Update..4/25/26 revenue numbers are decreasing at this location with the New Aldis location in Newton NJ taking 40% of revenue from this Stop N Shop. Closure over store inevitable.
EXTREMELY OVERPRICED 40% HIGER THEN ITS COMPETITION, SHOPRITE 4 miles away on rt15
THIS STOP N SHOP LOCATION IS CLEAN AND WELL ORGANIZED BUT WHY WOULD I PAY 40% MORE FOR SAME ITEMS WHEN I CAN DRIVE 4 MILES UP ROAD TO A BRAND NEW SPARTA SHOPRITE. THIS STORE WILL NOT LAST IF CORPORATE DOES NOT REEVALUATE PRICING. IF LOCATION REQUIRES HIGH PRICE STORE THEN WEGMANS WILL REPLACE THIS STOP N SHOP IN TIME.

Expect to pay way more for the exact same items at other stores. Ludicrously expensive. A grocery trip that would normally cost me at most $70 at Trader Joe's cost over $120. Nutty.
