  0/5 — Extremely Poor Hygiene and Not Worth the Hype I visited this restaurant on Saturday, August 15, at approximately 9:40 PM. We ordered a full Chicken Mandi along with Pepper Chicken as an appetizer. The Pepper Chicken was disappointing because what we received tasted more like Chicken 65 with a little pepper added on top, rather than proper Pepper Chicken. Overall, the taste was just so-so and definitely not worth the hype. While we were eating the Chicken Mandi, after already having some of the food, we suddenly found a cockroach crawling onto/near our plate. It was extremely disgusting and completely ruined our meal. We immediately showed it to an employee. We had to wear gloves ourselves and remove the cockroach from the table. After this experience, we paid the bill and left. For a restaurant serving food, this level of hygiene is completely unacceptable. The food quality and taste were average, the appetizer was not what we expected, and the cleanliness was terrible. Taste: 2/5 Hygiene: 0/10 Overall rating: 0/5 I would not recommend this place. Definitely not worth the hype or the money.

  ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We ordered the Mandi Biryani from Desi Dawaat and really enjoyed it! The rice was flavorful, the chicken was tender and well-cooked, and the portion was good. The taste was very satisfying and had a nice authentic Indian flavor. Definitely worth trying, and we’ll be ordering again! 😋🍗🍚

  The restaurant is widely known for its bahubali mandi, biryanis and pulaos along with south indian dishes.The sit out area for mandi draws attention.I have placed delivery order for chicken fry piece biryani, goat appetizer and chicken 555. The taste of biryani was good,disappointment was the quantity literally it was half box only. They were running buy one get one free promition and it felt like filled one biryani into two boxes. Chicken 555 and the goat appetizers were good in taste.

  We called the restaurant around 10:40 PM, about 30 minutes before arriving, and placed a dine-in order for the Bahubali Mandi. We informed the staff that we would reach by 11:10 PM, well before the restaurant’s 12:00 AM closing time. Despite placing the order in advance, we still had to wait after arriving. While we understood that delays can happen, the bigger issue was the portion size. The Bahubali Mandi is advertised as serving four people, but the quantity we received was not even enough for three. The rice portion, in particular, was extremely small and clearly insufficient. When we asked an employee about the reduced quantity, we were told that they were closing and had run out of food. If that was the case, the restaurant should have informed us before preparing the order instead of serving a smaller portion and charging the full price. Only after we questioned it did they reduce the bill by $5, bringing it to about $101 from $106. We’ve had mandi at other restaurants for around $60, where the portions were much larger and the taste was better. Running low on food near closing time is understandable, but serving significantly less without informing customers beforehand is not. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I hope the restaurant is more transparent with customers.

  We visited Desi Dawat Restaurant in Somerset for a Friendship Day dinner. The staff informed us about a BOGO offer on all pulaos celebrating their anniversary. They also allowed us to mix and match variations, so we opted for the Sattibabu Chicken Fried Piece, Ulavacharu Chicken, Mutton Fried Piece, and Gongura Mutton pulaos, alongside Chicken 65. Our order arrived hot within 15 to 20 minutes. Each pulao was prepared in a traditional Andhra style with beautifully mild flavors. The chicken and mutton were perfectly cooked and blended seamlessly with the aromatic rice. Standard sides of salan and raita complemented the meal well. The ambience is excellent, with the Mandi setup providing a nostalgic nod to old city Hyderabad. Backed by friendly staff and efficient service, this restaurant comes highly recommended. They also offer professional catering services for special events.
