  I've eaten at Char several times now and each time it has been a delight. Friendly, attentive service at the bar and at the table, and the food and wine are excellent. I'm not much of a steak person, but the crab-stuffed mushroom caps, short rib mac & cheese, chicharron appetizer (a special the night I took my son and his girlfriend to dinner), Cobb salad, and desserts are really delicious. And the Yorkshire pudding is to die for! It rivals what you get at a London Sunday roast. Sophie, Stephen, and Candace—thank you for making each of my dining experiences at Char exceptional.

  Expensive and not a good value. The food was fine but not WOW enough for the price. The standard filet was only 6 oz and looked very lonely on the plate. Even the wine portions were quite small. Our waitress brought the wine in individual mini-carafes, and poured it into the wine glasses at the table, as if to show us "yep, that is all you get." The service was attentive, and the setting was nice. But the lack of value detracts -- save this place for when your company or somebody else is paying.

  What a great night me and my family had. We came to celebrate mothers day at Char and Elia was our server. So far in my dining experience that was the best service i have ever recieved!! I live in california and i have been in many fine dining restaurants but Char was superb with food and service. I would definitely recomment Elia as your server and i guarantee youll have a great night.

  I recently dined at Char and overall, the experience was just okay for me. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and the service was genuinely great. Our server was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal, which I definitely appreciated. As far as the food goes, it unfortunately just wasn’t anything spectacular that I would personally go back for, especially for the price point. I ordered the bone-in filet mignon along with the lobster mac and cheese, and while neither dish was terrible, neither really stood out or felt particularly memorable. The drinks were also a little underwhelming and didn’t quite live up to expectations. The one standout item for me was definitely the crab cake appetizer. It was really flavorful, well made, and honestly probably the best part of the meal. Overall, I’d say the experience was decent because the staff and service were excellent, but the food itself didn’t leave enough of an impression for me to return.

  I live in Hillsborough New Jersey on the Southside by the apartment complexes where The economy is totally reliant on DoorDash and fast food. My mother exposed me to top notch restaurants at a young age in New York City, Woodbridge, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami. Char is the only restaurant in close proximity to Hillsborough who has good food and exceptional Service without going to Miami or New York City. Our waiter Steven is a Somalia never heard the word used in the restaurant industry in Hillsborough New Jersey. He is an amazing waiter. His Service was outstanding. I would never receive this type of service in a. Restaurant in Hillsborough, New Jersey. I ordered the Chilean Sea-bass with asparagus and broccolini there’s no restaurant in Hillsborough that even serve serves food on this type of echelon. My husband ordered a 40 ounce Delmonico steak . I want to thank char steakhouse for providing a restaurant that is equivalent to New York City and Miami standards And is in close proximity of Hillsborough New Jersey. Every time my family and I go out to a restaurant in Hillsborough New Jersey the food upsets our family stomach we eventually gave up on going out to dinner in Hillsborough. Steven, was very knowledgeable and proved Char is a top notch restaurant close to Hillsborough Nj. He knew every item on the menu he remembered our order he treated us with respect, kindness, and dignity. Steven is definitely an asset to char he’s enthusiastic. He suggested novelty food for people used to eating door dash and fast food. There’s not a lot of restaurants in Hillsborough that have the same dedication quality food standards. I wan to take a minute to recognize a good restaurant.
