  What an unfortunate experience at Cedar and Salt, which is more of a bagel place than a cafe, with only counter service. The bagels were disappointingly chewy and gluteny, not up to Jersey standards. But the worst experience was when we ordered tuna salad and cheese on a bagel and was asked if we wanted the cheese melted. Yes, we said. A few minutes later we noticed the cook in the back spraying water on the griddle underneath a lid to generate steam. Horrified to learn a few minutes later this was our tuna melt bagel receiving the wet steam bath, I was hoping he knew something about creating a tuna melt we did not. Upon opening the sandwich, the bagel was damp, the tuna runny and the cheese disappeared into the damp bread. We nibbled on the tuna salad and threw the bagel away. We also asked for the smoked salmon bagel sandwich to be cut in half, but was given two open-faced bagels, no cut. Also ate the salmon and tossed the chewy bagel. The coffee tasted burnt and old and was also jettisoned to the trash bin.
