  Nimbu – Indian Street Food | Princeton, NJ 📍 Location & Ambience Visited Nimbu over the weekend, and the location is quite convenient, right next to Trader Joe’s in a retail complex. The restaurant has a vibrant, modern, and aesthetic look, with attractive interiors and a good amount of seating. The overall atmosphere is casual and works well for a quick meal or a relaxed casual visit. 🍽️ Food & What We Ordered We tried a few items from the menu: 🥣 Pani Puri The pani puri was okay overall. The mint pani was the highlight and had a nice, refreshing taste. However, the overall experience felt somewhat different from the traditional Indian street-style pani puri. 🥔 Samosa Chaat The samosa chaat was flavorful and decent, with good overall taste. That said, it didn’t quite give the authentic Indian street-food feel I was expecting. The portion size also felt a little small for the price. 🌮 Butter Chicken Tacos The butter chicken itself was tasty, flavorful, and well-seasoned. The interesting part was that instead of regular tortillas, it was served with a naan-style bread. While the concept was creative, I personally didn’t enjoy the naan-style base as much, and it didn’t complement the filling as well as I expected. 🍴 Food Style Although Nimbu is presented as an Indian street-food restaurant, many of the dishes feel more like Indian fusion food rather than traditional Indian street food. If you’re specifically looking for classic street-food flavors and preparations, some dishes may feel different from what you normally expect. 👨‍🍳 Service The service was one of the positives. Staff were attentive, friendly, and quick, and the food came out fairly fast. 👍 The quick-service format makes it convenient for a casual meal when you don’t want to spend too much time waiting. 🪑 Overall Experience Overall, it was an okayish experience, mainly worth trying if you’re interested in something different or want to explore Indian-inspired fusion dishes. The restaurant itself looks great, has a vibrant atmosphere, and offers good seating space, which definitely adds to the experience. ✨ The food was decent, but personally, I was expecting a little more of the traditional Indian street-food taste and style based on the restaurant’s concept. Overall: A nice-looking, quick-service spot with good ambience and attentive service. Worth trying once if you’re curious about Indian fusion street food, but some dishes may not fully match the traditional street-food experience you’re expecting.

  We ordered Pani puri and samosa chaat. The food quantity for the price was very low. While trying to be modern they have Pani in a mini coke can style transparent can. Not to exciting for the price we paid $30. I would not come again as there are competing places such as Ganga, Patel Brothers, Vatan for the same items priced right! They are more authentic. The samosa chat tasted like frozen samosa even though they claim to be handmade. I counted 10 pieces of Kala Chana is samosa chat. Totally upset!

  Absolutely amazing food! I’ve had the pleasure of going several times, and have loved trying their new menu items and have always had wonderful service. Their Vada Pav is a classic and their Pav Bhaji may even be better than my MIL’s homemade dish! And my son is OBSESSED with their house-made mango lassis. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes fresh REAL food!

  Ordered takeout from the wrong location, called the store and asked them to cancel and refund my card within 1 minute of placing the order and realizing my mistake. Was told that I couldn’t get my card refunded because the food had already been made. I told the woman on the phone that the order was placed just a few moments ago, and that there’s no way it can be made and finished already. I explained that I was driving a hour in the opposite direction, and the woman said I just had to come get the food when it was ready, no other choice. I asked them to donate the food since it was $40 worth of menu items and she said they couldn’t do that either. Wildly unhelpful in all regards, I’ll be initiating a chargeback from my bank as a matter of principle. These people are greedy beyond reproach, and I work very hard for my money.

  Extremely disappointing experience. The food was honestly horrible and absolutely not worth the price. We specifically asked for our food to be mild, but it came out extremely spicy and excessively salty. The food was definitely not freshly prepared.The pani puri was especially disappointing. The pani was served from a can/container, yet they are charging around $11 for it. At that price point, I expected something fresh and much better quality. The service didn't help the experience either. Our server didn't even bother to properly clean the table. Given all the glowing reviews, we went in with high expectations, but our experience was completely different. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this place and will not be returning.
