- PJPaul JamesMay 19, 20261.0For many years, we've had a tradition of ordering several sandwiches from the Primo Hoagies shop near 7th and Asbury in OCNJ. We ordered sandwiches on the evening of 5/16/26 that were poorly constructed, sloppily made, mayonnaise, slathered onto the outside of the roll, and generally not fresh. The lettuce and tomatoes were not fresh, the tuna diablo was in square chunks and not properly chopped as if directly out of a can, and the pickles we ordered whole, were not fresh but soft and chewy. We are sad that this formerly reliable franchise location is no longer trustworthy. I've read the responses to similar reviews to my own and have observed a boilerplate response claiming concern, high standards and welcoming feedback, but this location has clearly not yet taken responsibility for the shocking downgrade in quality, pride, and craftsmanship in their product over the years. It seems my experience was not isolated. Perhaps it's changed hands to less attentive franchise owners. But the recent poor quality is alarming. We took a few bites, threw out the sandwiches, and cooked dinner. A complete waste of food, money, and time. My family and I will have to create another beach arrival tradition because we won't be back.
