  Excellent kosher deli food. I love the beef barley soup and the chicken soup with matzo balls

  Place extremely dirty Hostess was rude and yelling at people . Never saw so many unhappy people in my life . Owner was there watching it all. Not a bad corned beef sandwich . Nothing earth shattering though.

  Did home delivery so cannot comment on the atmosphere. Otherwise the food was delicious!

  I have never experienced a more humiliating and disrespectful treatment from this establishment. My friend and I arrived at The Pickled Herring at 12:55pm on October 6th. There was a man at the hostess who sat us with silverware. The waitress kept walking past us and greeting two other tables that sat down after us. At 1:17, I got up from the table to go over to the waitress because she never greeted us. She seemed agitated and annoyed that I walked over to her. Another lady came over without any apology and asked what we wanted. I ordered a Reuben sandwich with no Russian dressing. Of course the sandwich came out with Russian dressing all over it. I told the lady that I specifically asked for no Russian dressing and she proceeded to check her notepad as if I were lying. She then brought it back to the kitchen. Another one came out (cheese was burnt). She blamed the kitchen by saying that there were three other orders and they gave her the wrong one. I was extremely irritated at this point. When the meal was over, she brought the bill and took nothing off. I explained to her that I am extremely dissatisfied with everything that went on today. I explained that I am a waitress and I do not treat my guests this way. I told her about how we waited over 20 minutes and I had to go up to the initial waitress and there seemed to be annoyance. Yet again this lady blamed the man at the front “he’s not the hostess, I am”. So if you are the hostess, why didn’t you seat me??? I told her to take something off the bill. The lady replied with “My boss with probably say no because we don’t do that, but I will ask”. This comment was absolutely rude and ridiculous. She came back 2 minutes later and she said “no”. I told her that my family will no longer be ordering catering for the Jewish holidays, or dining in ever again. The staff is extremely unprofessional and rude.

  The food and service are consistently exceptional. We ordered food to take out. The order was correct, it was ready as promised, and the food was delicious
