We had such an amazing experience at Blu Livingston, and a huge part of that was thanks to our server, Mike, and our host, Morgan! Mike was truly a breath of fresh air. It is so rare these days to come across a server as young as he is who genuinely cares about the dining experience. He knew the menu inside and out, explained how dishes were prepared, gave thoughtful recommendations, and you could tell he actually takes pride in what he does. That level of professionalism and attention is becoming harder and harder to find, and it really stood out to us. What impressed us even more was how well he handled our feedback about some of the food (the mac and cheese was dry). Instead of getting defensive or brushing it off, he genuinely listened, took our criticism into consideration, and helped guide us toward menu choices that better matched what we were looking for (the truffled tuna was delicious, especially the sauce!) That kind of attentiveness and maturity is incredibly rare. Morgan was equally wonderful. She helped us make another reservation for next month and was such a sweetheart throughout the entire process. She even made sure we would be seated with Mike again, which we really appreciated. We are already looking forward to coming back, ordering whatever Mike recommends, and having another genuine restaurant experience. Blu is lucky to have both of them!

You must go to Blu; I cannot how incredible the restaurant was. This might have been the best food I have had in my entire life (to be honest, it was better than all of the food I've had in Italy). I got pasta for my appetizer, and it was phenomenal. It was homemade, fresh, and genuinely blew my mind away. For my entree, I got roasted chicken with broccoli, which was absolutely delicious and satisfyingly good. For dessert, I ordered carrot cake - I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW SATISFYING, PERFECT, AND FANTASTIC THIS WAS. It was the best carrot cake I've had in my life - the texture, the taste, everything about it was phenomenal. I actually took 2/3 of all of the carrot cake which my family was supposed to share - but I had to because it was so perfect and delicious. Seriously. And not only was the food incredible, but the atmosphere and design of the restaurant was modern, beautiful, and very exciting. I've never had such an incredible dining experience in my life.

I went here on a Sunday evening with a few friends during their grand opening week, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Overall, it was a very good first impression. The restaurant is beautiful. The decor feels sophisticated, modern, and chic without being overdone. The bar is pretty impressive, stylish, and with plenty of seating. It feels like a great spot for happy hour or drinks with friends. Because it was opening week, they were limiting reservations, so it didn’t feel overly crowded, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful with recommendations. I really enjoyed the sushi, and we were told the fish is brought in fresh daily. Everything we ordered was good overall, although a few dishes leaned a little salty for my taste. The ribeye steak stood out it was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly medium. One thing to note the cocktail menu didn’t list prices, so I was a little surprised when some of the drinks turned out to be around $24 each. The owner also showed us their private dining room, which can accommodate about 30 people. That seems like a great option for birthdays, celebrations, or group dinners. This is definitely a nice addition to town. It’s on the pricier side, but that seems in line with the upscale atmosphere and overall dining experience.

I recently visited this new location of Blu on the Hudson and wanted to share an honest first impression. The staff—especially the bartenders—were friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. However, overall the experience felt a bit unorganized, and it was noticeable that the restaurant is still in its early stages. Given the area and clientele this location serves, expectations are naturally high. Compared to the Weehawken location (which is one of my favorites), this one didn’t quite deliver the same level of execution. The atmosphere was more subdued, lacking the signature energy Blu is known for, including the DJ and overall ambiance. The bar program also felt underdeveloped—there was no proper espresso machine for espresso martinis, and the drinks came off overly sweet and smaller than expected. On the food side, some dishes were served cold and lacked the presentation you would expect at this price point. I understand this may be due to it being a new opening, and I’m hopeful the team will refine the experience over time. With the right adjustments, this location has strong potential to match the standard set by the original. I’d be open to returning once things are more established.

There are restaurants that aim to impress, and then there are those that quietly establish themselves as experiences worth returning to. Blu Liv falls decisively into the latter category—refined without pretension, inventive without losing sight of comfort. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance signals intention. The design leans modern but not sterile: soft lighting, thoughtfully spaced seating, and an understated elegance that encourages conversation rather than spectacle. It’s the kind of place equally suited for a family/friends dinner or a measured business meeting. The menu demonstrates a confident understanding of balance—both in flavor and composition. Dishes are plated with care but avoid the overworked aesthetic that plagues trend-driven kitchens. Instead, Blu Liv focuses on clarity: ingredients are allowed to speak, yet they’re guided by a kitchen that clearly knows when to push and when to restrain. You’ll notice thoughtful layering—acid cutting through richness, texture playing against temperature—without it ever feeling forced. Service is another strong point. Attentive without hovering, the staff seems well-versed in both the menu and the pacing of a proper dining experience. Courses arrive with a natural rhythm, giving diners time to appreciate each dish rather than rushing toward the next. What ultimately sets Blu Liv apart is its coherence. Many restaurants excel in one area—food, atmosphere, or service—but struggle to unify the experience. Here, each element reinforces the other. It’s not trying to be the loudest or the trendiest spot in the room; instead, it delivers something far more difficult: consistency, polish, and a sense that every detail has been considered. In a crowded dining landscape, Blu Liv distinguishes itself not by excess, but by precision. It’s a restaurant that understands its identity—and executes it with quiet confidence. Livingston is proud to have you! Highly recommend.
