  A TRIP TO THE ER - CHICKEN NIGHTMARES! We had dinner: chicken tandori and naan. We waited an hour for our food to be served after we ordered. The naan was dry and crumbly, as if it had been sitting out since lunch. There was no rice with the chicken - we asked the waiter & were told that was an extra. We passed but the extra was a trip to the ER later that night for my wife due to food poisoning. Either the chicken was bad or it got contaminated. I had diarrhea once we walked back to our hotel but my wife vomited all night until we went to the ER and she got medication.

  This place is so ridiculous. They messed up my order and refused to give my money back. Guess they really need that money. They didn’t try to fix the problem just argued they won’t be returning the money I paid for. Don’t come here

  Genuinely better than the actual curry houses on Brick Lake. I used to live close to Brick Lane in London. I must admit I wasn’t a fan. While the street is a fascinating mixture of culture and art, I always found the curry houses very bland places for tourists. The dishes would frequently come on dull metal platters, the sauces were lazy, the meat felt cheap. Very little effort and an atmosphere that felt frankly more like a McDonald’s. But this isn’t a review about the actual Brick Lane but rather the restaurant named after and inspired by it. I was really impressed. They genuinely deserve five stars. The food was excellent. I ordered madras and garlic naan. I could tell it was going to be good before I got my food because after I ordered they gave me some poppadoms with a selection of sauces. That’s no big deal usually, but in the US it’s more common to be charged for these and you need to specifically ask for them. Here they just arrived, as they do in London, which I thought was a cute point of detail. The poppadoms were lovely, crunchy and fresh, and the sauces were homemade and really high quality. After this, and again before my meal, I was also brought a small soup. It was a sort of spiced carrot soup. It was delicious, and again gave me another vote of confidence that this restaurant knows what it’s doing. It’s just a level of quality and consideration which separates a good restaurant and a fantastic one. The madras was excellent, and the chicken was high quality. Too often curry houses in the US use chicken breast because you can get these vast chickens which just produce bland cubes of white meat. I’m pretty sure this was thigh, and it was great quality, full of flavour, and you could just tell this was thoughtfully sourced meat. The naan was also fluffy, perhaps a little underdone for my tastes as I like it to have a slight crisp, but it was fresh and nice. I had draft beer with my meal. They have a really wide selection of drinks and it’s quite rare to have several draft options in a curry house, which for me is a big plus. I could only finish half my meal as the portions were quite big for me, but they were happy to box for me to have at home. After the meal they provided a tray of various sweets and spices which apparently help with digestion. They talked me through, and while I must admit I was a bit confused what to do with it I though it was yet another piece of detail that I would typically only expect to see in a very high end restaurant. That’s not to imply this is not a high end restaurant, it is, but to put into perspective I had a $500 meal in a very famous top restaurant in Manhattan that had no attention to detail. My meal here cost $60, that included a 20% tip and my two drinks. The staff are lovely. There is a slowness about them, not that they don’t provide you what you need in a timely manner and more that everything is so meticulously done. It creates a very calm atmosphere. Talking of atmosphere, the restaurant design is fantastic. Certainly a great place to take friends or a date. This place impressed me. I will certainly be back. And the fact that it’s just so much better than the original restaurants it is inspired by made me laugh. Very easy five stars.

  Delicious home cooked authentic Indian food... we've had many curries all over the world and this was by far one of the best, the flavours and portion sizes all excellent , espcially nice to wash down with a bottle of kingfisher All staff extreamly friendly and cant recommend enough, we'll be back when in the area

  Please stay away from this place. The food was actually good here, not amazing but compared to the standards of restaurant that claim to serve Indian food here. The food I ordered today was stinking and I really now feel scared of ordering food in general. You really can’t tell what they are serving you and how old that stuff is. Just stay away if you care about your health.
