I have never left a negative review of a restaurant as a chef I try to give grace.
I paid for a special that the cafe is running. $30 for a ribeye that's supposed to be $54.
I love steak. Will eat it medium rare if at the right place. I ordered medium well at this cafe after seeing the ambiance and chef's uniform very dirty. I ordered a zelzer with a splash of pineapple =flat. Waiter apologized. No biggie.
We ordered cheesy bites :never got them..maybe the waiter did not hear us?
I let it go.
My son(18) got his food (small thin chicken snitchzel) he said is ok I'm not that hungry.
My steak was huge..super thick..no marbling at all..I thought this is not the look or shape of a ribeye. But what ever...it was blue un the center..rare...I asked the waiter to please cook it more.came back. The snow peas= delicious
The steak tuff..dry..no fat in site..no seasoning at all.not even salt.
The yuca fries crispy but utterly unseasoned.
At this point I asked for the bill paid left a tip..yes . it's not the waiters fault that the food was not good. He did forget the appetizer but ,I know the struggle.I have worked in the food industry since I became a chef in 2004.I worked in 5 star facilities, mom and pops and I find that good food is everywhere just not at this cafe . Maybe breakfast is better. I post this because I hope you stop serving people that ask for their steak more than medium rare the toughest and flavorless steak ever. Please do better.by the way, you know and I know that was not ribeye. I was an excellent butcher at restaurant school. Not bragging just stating a fact.
I think my issue with this lovely place was my expectations. I will absolutely recommend their delicious coffee and yummy biscuits but I was disappointed with the portion size compared to the price. Thankfully the staff were all highly attentive and courteous! The noise level can get a little uncomfortable with the demographic of customers that come in for brunch but I do not blame the restaurant or staff for this issue, regardless the food I was served was excellent and fresh so check out Alyce if you're in the area!

We had great time eating here. Great staff and thank you for accommodating us in such short notice. Only important thing is don’t bring your dog if you don’t plan to sit outside.

I'm almost hesitant to say that I have lived one block away for the last 4.5 years and have always seen Cafe Alyce but never actually went. I decided to try it out today, as I'm moving to downtown JC in 3 weeks, and the food may hav tme reconsider the lease I just signed.
Between the cozy "local coffee shop where everyone knows your name" vibe to the familiar conversations with staff and managers, this was hands down one of the best Saturday mornings I've had in a long time.
The biscuits and gravy are worth all the hype. The pancakes are the most perfect form of "something simple, done well." And the new Wanderer Spritz from their summer cocktail menu... just try it.
I can't believe it took me this long to come here - I will be coming back up yo JSQ weekend for this!!

Brunch, lunch, and dinner, does not miss!! Service is out of this world here, especially Rafael, always goes above and beyond to help the customers get what they want. Love this place, it's our go to spot for fine dining when we have guests in town. Wanderer and one world are also awesome.
