I had an absolutely incredible experience at Del Frisco’s, and it was entirely because of Stella. From the moment I called to book my reservation for July 4th, to the moment I arrived, and all the way through the end of the evening, she was exceptional.
Stella is a true representation of what elite service and customer satisfaction should look like. As someone who regularly dines at some of the best restaurants in New York City, I can confidently say that Stella surpassed them all and set a new standard for me. She was incredibly kind, genuine, attentive, and accommodating in a way that never felt forced. You could tell she truly cared about making the experience special.
She is an outstanding representation of Del Frisco’s and the level of hospitality a restaurant of this caliber should be known for. Stella, thank you sincerely for your kindness, your accommodations, and for making the entire experience so memorable. I wish you nothing but the absolute best. You deserve every bit of recognition that comes your way.
My friend from Chicago treated me to dinner at Del Frisco’s in Hoboken to celebrate my 75th birthday. The evening started wonderfully. The walk along the Hudson path and the breathtaking view of the New York City skyline were absolutely spectacular and set the stage for what I hoped would be a memorable celebration.
We began with the spinach and asparagus dip served with flatbread dippers, which was delicious and easily one of the highlights of the meal. At our table, we also ordered the mahi mahi over black rice and the short ribs with polenta. Both were acceptable but not particularly memorable. The short ribs were somewhat overcooked, and the polenta was thinner than expected and lacked the hearty texture I was looking for.
The cocktails were also somewhat disappointing. A friend ordered a margarita that was excessively salty—not only on the rim, where it is expected, but throughout the drink itself. We also tried the VIP Martini, which was tasty and well-balanced in flavor. However, both cocktails seemed light on liquor and lacked the strength one would expect, especially considering the restaurant’s pricing.
Unfortunately, my entrée was a major disappointment. I ordered the full rack of ribs with fries. The fries arrived hot and were quite good, but the ribs appeared heavily charred on the outside. While the meat did fall off the bone, it seemed to be because it was overcooked rather than tender. The inside was dry, and most of the flavor came from the sauce rather than the meat itself.
When our waiter, Pablo, checked on us, I explained that the ribs were dry and overdone. He graciously took the plate back, and I requested a half rack as a replacement. While my friends continued eating, I waited. A manager stopped by and assured me it would only be a few more minutes.
When the replacement arrived, the fries were only warm, and the ribs were virtually identical to the first serving—dry, overcooked, and lacking flavor. I mentioned this to Pablo, and I couldn’t help but feel that little effort had been made to correct the problem. In fact, the fries seemed to be the same fries from my original order rather than a fresh serving. I did point this out to the server and he was sorry.
I need to point out it was a long time before anyone came to our table again.
After clearing our plates, I was offered a complimentary cheesecake, which was a thoughtful gesture. However, by that point I had lost my appetite and declined. What surprised me most was that despite two unsuccessful attempts at serving the entrée, another entree was not offered and the meal remained on the bill.
The setting, the view, the appetizer, and the service from Pablo were all positives. However, for a restaurant with Del Frisco’s reputation and pricing, I expected much better food quality and a stronger effort to resolve a problem when it was brought to their attention. Sadly, what should have been a special 75th birthday dinner ended on a disappointing note.
