I was Intending to go to this New Burger Joint in the Hackensack area 2 Friday nights ago, at around 8:30pm, but it was so busy, it had about a thirty minute wait. I think it was going to be longer. So I left. Then I remembered, I had just seen Cousin's Burger, on Main St. Hackensack. It was new, & I wondered if they would still be open. They were. I was met by their staff, 3 people at the time, who were very friendly & enthusiastic that I had come to their joint. When do you really see that nowadays? They recommended their Cheese steak, but I just wanted a Burger. I ordered their triple cheese Burger. $9.99. What I got was three Smash Burger Patty's topped with Cooper sharp cheese on a standard bun with onions. Decent thickness, oozing cheese, not super big, but not small. The appearance sort of routine. But the burger meat, that is the story! They were not smashed too thin, not overcooked or dry. Infact the COOK WAS PERFECT! And the flavor of the meat & it's ground consistency, with the Cooper Sharp Cheese, WAS HEAVENLY. Best quality hamburger meat, I have had in a long time!. I don't know if I will even bother with the other place, which is also new. Went back with my brother the about 5 days later, split a cheesesteak with him. $20. I was a little leery about the $20 price tag, but being that this area of NJ, everthing, restaurants, are more expensive than the rest of Jersey, kind of expected. So I ate one half of a CS, it was again, cooked to perfection. CS was juicy, meat delicious, & just enough cheese to ooze out in small drips. I later asked the cook's name. He told me Wakim or Wakeem, not sure the spelling. He is top notch, on the griddle. 1/2 a CS was equal in proportion to the triple Cheesburger. Me and my brother loved it. We were satisfied. Since this place is close to my house, we intend to make it a our regular weekly or bi-monthly treat to ourselves. But to be fair, I will try other competitors in the area. I'm not a shill for Cousin's Burger, not affiliated or a friend, doing a favor in giving this review. It's honest, and I will update my review, in comparison with the other joints. Not in detail. Just a thumbs up or down comparison. I will review other joints in detail on their own Google map page.
Note: I didn't try anything else, on the menu, as I can't eat sides fried in seed oil. I didn't add pictures, but I may remedy that on a next visit
Edit note. Triple is not $9.99. that day I tried it was national cheese burger day, so it was discounted. I think it's 12.99.
