  I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding an extremely disappointing experience at one of your Stop & Shop locations. I was already inside the store actively shopping before closing time. At approximately 10:05 PM, only five minutes after the store’s posted closing time of 10:00 PM, the store manager approached me and required me to leave the store. I attempted to complete my purchase and offered to pay for the merchandise I had already selected, but the manager refused to allow me to make payment and instructed me to leave the store. I understand and respect that the store has established operating hours. However, I was not attempting to enter the store after closing—I was already inside shopping. I believe the situation could have been handled professionally by informing me that the store was closed and allowing me to immediately proceed to checkout and pay for the items already in my cart. Instead, I was denied the opportunity to complete my purchase and was made to leave the store. As a paying customer, I found the way the situation was handled unnecessarily disrespectful and embarrassing. I am requesting that Stop & Shop review this incident with the store’s management, including any available security footage, to confirm the circumstances surrounding my removal from the store and the refusal to process my purchase. I would also appreciate clarification regarding Stop & Shop’s policy for customers who are already inside the store when closing time arrives. Specifically, I would like to understand whether refusing to process a customer’s purchase and requiring them to leave without their selected merchandise is consistent with company policy. Please consider this a formal customer complaint, and I would appreciate a response regarding the outcome of your review and any corrective action deemed appropriate.

  The store manager, I believe his name is Carlos, was kind enough to grab a case of water for me from the bottom of a sealed pallet. I know that wasn’t easy to do. He went above and beyond and I really appreciate that! Thank you!

  Ana a worker by the self service checkout was on a power trip being very demanding and made multiple disrespectful remarks while I was merely trying to checkout. Whispering and pointing for 5 mins straight. Please do something about her because I am not coming to a supermarket where I’m getting attitude for no reason

  Went to buy a pack of sodas, forced me to buy 4 or get grossly overcharged Rotisserie chicken is dry and scrawny

  This store really needs to hire more staff again. The self checkout machines are frustrating to use, and customers shouldn’t feel like they’re doing the work that employees used to handle, especially while paying high prices for groceries. Another issue is the bags. Charging for plastic bags doesn’t make much sense, and it would be much better if the store offered paper bags for free. It would make the checkout process easier and more customer friendly.
