- DBD BMay 31, 20261.0I've had my fair share of encounters with rude workers at the Allendale ACME, usually the younger workers, but this past Saturday afternoon takes the cake. While trying to purchase an item in the self checkout line, it wouldn't scan, so I switched to a second checkout machine. After multiple unsuccessful attempts, as well as unsuccessfully trying to look up the item, I asked for assistance from a young worker and said, "It's not scanning." I was met with an obvious eye roll and in a snotty tone he said, "The barcode is on the bottom." I replied, "Yes, I know, but It's not scanning." He replies angrily, "It's on the bottom!" and then he somewhat forcibly grabs the bread out of my hand. After two failed attempts scanning it himself, he then takes the scan gun and tries that 4-5 times before it FINALLY reads. Despite the rude interaction, I thanked him for his help, but instead of saying "You're welcome," he audibly huffed at me and walked away. I only go to the Allendale ACME to get last minute items for my elderly parents because I'd rather battle crowds at the ShopRite in Ramsey where I'll be in a store that's not only plentifully stocked and has MUCH lower prices, but also has workers who are helpful and friendly. However, maybe it's time to stop coming to the ACME altogether.
