  On July 3rd, I stopped in with my boyfriend, his sister, and her boyfriend. His sister and her boyfriend had proper and valid IDs and were trying to buy alcohol but were denied due to the fact that my boyfriend's ID was expired, regardless of the fact that he had already gotten it renewed in Massachusetts. The cashier (Doreen Sacramela?) called over the manager (Connery) immediately, and it just went downhill from there. No one in my group was allowed to get a word in as the alcohol was jerked off the belt. Both of them were aggressive and rude over a situation that truly isn't that serious. Given the way the manager and cashier had behaved, we asked for their names on our way out after already checking out. That's when the bag boy on the end stepped up to my boyfriend like he was going to swing, taunting us and popping his collar "My name's Jayce, it's right here!!" while pointing to his shirt. At that point, we left. At the end of the day, the denial of the alcohol is not the issue. It's the way the Hannaford managers and staff treated us over the situation. The alcohol could be purchased elsewhere, so we couldn't care less about it. But to be threatened and intimidated by a manager and nearly swung on by the bag boy is truly unacceptable for a business. When my boyfriend called it in, the best we could get was a "team meeting" about it.

  In mass if the license is renewed its a valid license and instead of being grown up they start mouthing off and causing a scene by yelling and getting up in our faces and talking shit and swearing horrible experience that could've been resolved

  We do all our shopping at the Ossipee store. Why don't they sell anything but 85% ground beef in bulk packages? I wanted 90% or 93%. I asked at the butcher counter and he said it sells out early in the morning and he made no offer to grind more. Really, that was his answer. If it sells out early then grind more, simple answer. But I know they must be grinding nearly expired unsold product like steaks, roasts etc to make 85%. That's why the sell by date on the 85% is always the following day. I guess I'm going to market basket in North Conway from now on. Just what I need a 23mi drive to shop with these gas prices. Thanks

  Bullied and harassed by a random employee and the manager Chris for my wife needing to leave checkout to nurse our one month old child in the car who was crying… employee used the opportunity be condescending, rude, and to harass me and demand my wife and baby return with her ID despite us being well into our 30s. Employee proceeded to call my wife “barely legal” to me, the customers around us, and her co-workers and insinuated that I impregnated someone who was “barely legal” despite my wife being 33 and 3 months older than I am as a way to try and embarrass us in our community. We understand the state law but do not find the targeting and harassment we received in addition to be appropriate anywhere, much less where we buy our groceries. The law is subjective as no one else was targeted or ID’d despite plenty of people being under 45. Had I been with my daughter and granddaughter (in the future) neither would have had to present an ID and they didn’t seem to need to see my one month old daughter’s ID, just my 33 year old wife’s. In reality, the employee was having en ego trip and needed to demonstrate the power her Hannaford’s name tag afforded her and she chose to treat two young parents like children instead of the paying customers we are. This was all while we tried to be considerate of others in the store by getting our crying baby to the car to nurse while I checked out and paid. All of this aside, I could have overlooked her god complex and unprofessionalism but when I spoke with the manager Chris, he decided to double down with a bad attitude, unprofessional conflict resolution, and walked away from me in the middle of our conversation despite me expressing my issue with his employee calling my wife “barely legal” and insinuating I just had my one month old baby with someone under age (who again is 33 and 3 months older than I am). We have connected with a law firm to help fight back against Chris, management, and this employees personally and will welcome any others that have also faced discriminatory practices by Hannafords, their management, or employees.
