Date night in the Old Market ❤️🍽️
This weekend, my wife and I checked out Anthem, one of the newer spots in downtown Omaha, and this place surprised us in the best way possible.
Their menu is this wild mix of comfort food, Tex-Mex, and Asian-inspired flavors, so instead of ordering entrées, we built our dinner around four shareables. Zero regrets.
🔥 Spicy Garlic Charred Edamame
I absolutely loved this. Lindsay liked it too, but I was over here scraping every last bit of seasoning off the plate like a gremlin. 😂 Not saucy like Hiro’s edamame — more of a bold dry-rub flavor.
🍟 Thai Curry Fries
Really good with a unique flavor combo. I’m usually not a mayo person, but the chili mayo actually worked. Not our favorite dish of the night, but still worth trying.
🧀 Jalapeño Mac Poppers
Okay… NOW I understand why the server said these are their most popular item. Crispy, cheesy, spicy comfort food perfection.
🌮 Loaded Hatch Chile Queso (minus chorizo for the vegetarians 🌱)
This might have been my favorite thing on the table. The curry tortilla chips were incredible and added such a unique flavor to the queso.
Safe to say we’ll definitely be back, especially to try their noodle salads next time.
If you’re in Omaha and looking for something different, add this place to your list immediately.
10/10 recommend. 🙌

Came in today with my girlfriend and had an amazing experience. Our server noticed another table had accidentally left their purse behind and immediately ran outside trying to find them before they left. Seeing someone care that much about doing the right thing honestly really moved me. You can teach service, but you can’t teach integrity like that. I didn’t catch his name, but he was working around 12:45ish. He absolutely deserves recognition.
Overall our group had a great experience at Anthem. They were very accommodating to our needs and even opened up the private room for a short notice reservation. The drinks were great, especially the prickly mojito. All the food was wonderful, I recommend trying the Bangkok pork. The service could have been better. Our waiter was a bit slow at checking on us. The ranch that was ordered was initially forgotten and, when finally delivered, was in a very small serving dish. Also to note for a group of 8 everything was put on one check, it was a bit disappointing we weren’t given the option of separate checks. Despite these minor critiques, I had and great experience would come back again!

We just got home from our first visit to Omaha and are delighted that we discovered Anthem on our first day! The ambience was just right, the food was delicious (we especially enjoyed the Anthem Smash Burger and the Queso Birria Beef Tacos), the service was great, the manager, Ruthie, stopped by our table to check on us and made us feel very welcomed -- and remembered us when we came back! We returned a couple more times during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed sitting at the bar chatting with Eddie and Marty while sipping on an espresso martini and an old fashioned both of which were yummy. We’ll definitely be back on our next visit to Omaha!

5 Stars – The New Old Market Gold Standard
The Atmosphere: Walked in at 10:00 AM on a chilly morning, and the vibe inside Anthem was an immediate mood-lifter. It’s got this high-end, tropical-meets-modern aesthetic that feels very upscale for the Old Market. I sat near the window, and the natural light in there is a dream for photos. A huge shoutout to the management team who was on the floor—even just two weeks in, the hospitality feels like they’ve been open for years.
The Food:
Queso Birria Beef Tacos ($19): I skipped the traditional brunch for these, and it was the right call. The beef is slow-braised and incredibly tender, but the Oaxaca cheese crust on the outside of the tortilla is the real winner. The macha chili crisp gives it a subtle, smoky heat that isn't overwhelming. The consommé is rich, flavorful, and a must-dip for every bite.
Curry Chips & Creamy Salsa Verde: Do not sleep on the chips. They are dusted with a unique curry seasoning that’s earthy and warm. Pairing them with the Creamy Salsa Verde (which is bright, tangy, and velvety) creates a flavor profile I haven't found anywhere else in Omaha.
Verdict: Anthem is a 10/10. It’s exactly what the Old Market needed—a spot that feels "cool" but delivers high-quality, complex flavors. Whether you're a brunch person or a taco lover, this place is elite.
