If you are new to southwest asian cuisine, you wont be disappointed!!!!!! Please be happy to spend $40+ per person here and introduce yourself to southwest cuisine! This food is truly what i needed while on the road, and i am not sure if i could find this quality within 150 miles of Grand Island . I love their spice levels, which i found to be very nice! Indian food is always better with a kick, but you only think that til you over-do it; then you over compensate next time and feel like the mild flavor is inherently bland. Their increments made me confident in what i was ordering as a first timer to their location; and their spice levels held up to description, for me. That being said:
My completely subjective take: I have eaten at every of southwest asian restaurant i can find in my travels around the USA. Im not an expert on southwest asian food, so perhaps i am off base. Their food is GOOD, in fact id be delighted to have them within even 1 hour of my house; id order $100 worth 1x per month at the very least. The food does not meet the baseline i have acquired, which i dont believe is especially refined. I know this restaurant can produce a better product if they wanted to based on their taste alone…they have it! Their taste is perhaps 75% of the best I have had, it just small things. I taste the rogan josh and masala, they pass GOOD in taste, but miss the textures of what i have come to know as proper. The basmati rice, i really questioned, and still do, whether its proper basmati (smell and texture are way off; usually i want basmati to scent my home, in this case it smelt like earth 80% and 20% corn ground together). The naan is slightly dense, perhaps it is the nonstandard cheesy/butter (?) center. It was good, but i prefer, and have found, naan is lighter in texture. The tamarind and mint chutneys are slightly off to me as well, to me (tamarind too bitter, mint has too much of a lemongrass/cilantro flavor). Please do not use these as excuses to not eat here; they are producing a quality product, in a region where such quality product cannot be matched. I know they are capable of more; That does not mean its the correct business move. Thank you for your refreshments, and I will be back!
