Wow. What a horrible horrible experience. The employees were great, still learning. But the manager? Disgusting. The way she spoke to Malika (or Malique, apologies if I have the name wrong, it was a tall male), was not appropriate. So this is what happened:
The manager Nerita (could have been spelled incorrectly) with the long breads was helping back and forth, drive through is busy, and looks like training others. In the meantime, the gentlemen was helping me and he told me we could not do cinnamon on a sundae, okay no worries! I said let’s do hot fudge. A few moments later, a young lady made a cinnamon sundae, probably because she heard we were talking about it or the gentlemen accidentally typed cinnamon. It was a mistake, no worries, accidents happen, I witnessed them throw away about 8 cones already so what bad can this one do?. But the manager? She took it upon herself and belittled the gentlemen who was helping me, in front of all the customers. Some customers said “hey, she already made it, no a big deal” and another said “why is she talking to him like that” but to the manager? No, it was the biggest problem to her. She told the gentlemen and young lady to refund me now and not to do that again. Okay, understood; but no need to say it multiple times in that tone and in front of us, there’s a place and time to coach and that was not it. I said “no need, just remake with chocolate fudge.” Nope, she still instructed him to, and he did and said to reorder. What is even her problem? I told the gentlemen “hey, you’re okay. It’s not a big deal. Here’s the money back, just do with chocolate fudge.” He apologized and looked nervous. All this over a small plain cup sundae? If I ever spoke to my employees the way she did to them, it would make sense why I would always be hiring, because who would want to work with someone who’s willing to raise her voice and with attitude in front of customers. Imagine how it is when there are no customers? My boys mentioned in the car “do you speak to your employees like that? She was really mean, is it okay to do that?”, I said “no , I don’t do that. People in management sometimes abuse their power, forgetting their place”. I will never come here again. I will make sure to let DQs corporate know of how she treats her employees, and how uncomfortable she made the customers feel with her snarky comments.
