  Rating: ★☆☆☆☆ (and that’s only because I can’t give a zero) Entering this establishment is less of a shopping trip and more of a biological dare. The moment you cross the threshold, you are hit with a scent profile that can only be described as "Primates in Decay." It doesn’t just smell like old fish or a leaky freezer; it smells like a troop of silverbacks died of natural causes and washed ashore on a humid Tuesday in July. It is a thick, wet, oppressive aroma that clings to your clothes and follows you home like a needy ghost. I spent ten minutes in the produce section wondering if the "organic" greens were actually just camouflage for something dead beneath the shelving. The lighting is a flickering, sickly yellow that makes the shoppers look like extras from *The Walking Dead*, and the floors have a mysterious, tacky quality that suggests the tiles are trying to claim ownership of your shoes. The staff seems to have developed a symbiotic relationship with the stench; they move through the aisles with a glazed, thousand-yard stare, completely unfazed by the fact that the air in the deli section is thick enough to chew. I went in for a gallon of milk and a bag of chips. I left with a profound sense of mortality and a sudden urge to burn my clothes in the parking lot.   I visited Food Lion today during my lunch break to pick up groceries, and I was disappointed with the lack of cashier coverage during one of the busiest times of the day. When I got to the front, one cashier had just closed, leaving only one cashier open with several customers already waiting in line. Because I was short on time but had a full cart, I had no choice but to use the self-checkout, which took much longer since I had to scan and bag all of my groceries myself. There was also a line at the self-checkout. I asked an employee why there weren't more cashiers available, and the response was simply, "That's just the way it is today." I then spoke with the manager, who explained that they were not short-staffed but that this was how staffing was scheduled. He even mentioned that if it were up to him, he would have more employees working. Lunchtime is a busy shopping period, and I believe staffing should reflect that. Customers shouldn't have to wait in long lines or be forced to use self-checkout simply because there aren't enough cashiers scheduled. I hope Food Lion's management takes this feedback seriously and considers adding more cashiers during peak hours to improve the shopping experience for everyone.

  Guy at checkout was very rude and would not accept my competitors coupon even tho every other food lion does SMH I'll go to my regular store next time

  Great places to stop through, when you're coming from raleigh, and you don't want to stop when you get home halfway point between raleigh and rocky mount
