I went to Subway today to redeem my coupons and was told I could not use them. The coupons have no restrictions, and I even explained an easy way to ring them up. I had 8 coupons for 6-inch subs, so instead of making eight separate sandwiches, I asked the employee to prepare the sandwiches as usual and simply cut them in half so they would ring up as 6-inch subs rather than a 12-inch. All of the sandwiches were made without any issue.
When it was time to ring me up, she said the coupons “weren’t working.” She then called someone I assume was her manager, and the manager told her I could not use the coupons at all—no explanation, no policy, nothing. Just a refusal. It made no sense, especially considering the coupons clearly state no restrictions.
When I asked the employee for her name, she looked at me and said, “Why?” That alone told me everything I needed to know about the level of customer service at this location. At that point, I honestly should have left the sandwiches there, but I went ahead and paid my $60 and walked out.
What makes this even more disappointing is that earlier today, at a different Subway, I spent over $200 in gift cards for my employees with no issues at all. The customer service there was excellent. These last two locations, however, have been the complete opposite—unhelpful, dismissive, and unwilling to honor their own promotions.
To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. After today’s experience, I will not be returning to these locations, and I would strongly recommend going elsewhere until they can provide consistent service and uphold the standards expected from the Subway brand.
