I had the most wonderful experience at Caffeine and Chaos. Elisabeth was so sweet and kind, making sure we had the best experience possible.

Cool coffee shop, ice cream and Amazing play area! My grandchildren ages 2, 5, 6 and 8 loved it. One said I can't believe they have all this stuff! Most imaginative use of space and different activities for all ages. You can come and go whenever in the same day. Will be one of our favorite spots!

If you’re anywhere near Waynesville, do yourself a favor and stop what you’re doing immediately and go to Caffeine and Chaos. This place somehow managed to combine a coffee shop, bakery, ice cream parlor, and cool local hangout into one perfect little mountain hideaway. The coffee is fantastic, the baked goods are dangerous (seriously, that cinnamon muffin should probably come with a warning label), the ice cream is incredible, and the merch is actually stuff you’d want to buy instead of the usual tourist-shop nonsense.
A huge shoutout to Karson, who delivered customer service at a level that should probably be studied by scientists. He let me sample what felt like half the ice cream menu, was genuinely friendly, and made the whole experience memorable. The Honey Chicken Biscuit was absolutely phenomenal, too. I’d say the service was way better than Adam’s, but Karson specifically requested I say that just to mess with him—which honestly tells you everything you need to know about the vibe here. The staff are fun, welcoming, and clearly enjoy what they do, and that energy carries over to the guests. In all seriousness, this is one of my favorite coffee houses I’ve stumbled across anywhere. Amazing vibes, great people, and exactly the kind of local spot that makes a trip memorable. If you’re in Waynesville and don’t stop here, you’re doing Waynesville wrong. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If customer service were an Olympic sport, Adam would have multiple gold medals, endorsement deals, and somehow still act like it was “no big deal.” I came into Caffeine and Chaos expecting caffeine and maybe a manageable amount of chaos, but what I got was a full-blown emotional support experience disguised as a coffee run. Adam has the supernatural ability to make everyone feel like the VIP of the moment while simultaneously keeping the place moving like some sort of caffeinated wizard. Friendly, funny, attentive—truly suspicious levels of competence.
And let us discuss the cinnamon muffin, because I was not emotionally prepared. I don’t know who made that thing or what ancient family blood oath recipe was involved, but it was offensive how good it was. Moist, warm, cinnamon-y perfection that made me briefly consider abandoning all personal goals and becoming someone whose entire personality revolves around baked goods. Between Adam’s elite service and that muffin, this place has no business being this good. If joy had a headquarters, I’m pretty sure it would be Caffeine and Chaos. Protect Adam and the cinnamon muffin recipe at all costs.
I am a regular customer at this location and typically spend a few hundred dollars per month here. While I enjoy the highly customizable coffee options, the customer service has consistently been disappointing, and my most recent experience was unacceptable.
On the day in question, I arrived at approximately 12:45 PM during my lunch break and ordered two coffees through the drive-thru. Despite being well within a reasonable time frame, the staff did not appear to check on the drive-thru line for nearly 10 minutes. It then took almost 30 minutes to receive my first drink, and the second drink was still not ready.
As a result of the excessive wait time, I ended up being late to pick up my partner, despite arriving early and allowing plenty of time. When I politely expressed my frustration to the cashier, the response was unprofessional...the drive-thru window was shut in my face. I knocked on the window to explain that I had to leave and could not continue waiting, but the staff showed little concern or interest in resolving the situation.
Additionally, as a minority customer, I have experienced interactions with certain cashiers that have left me feeling uncomfortable and concerned about possible discriminatory treatment. Whether intentional or not, the behavior of some staff members has created that impression. Management should take these concerns seriously and ensure employees are properly trained in customer service and professionalism.
A few hours later, I called the store and was told I could return to pick up the coffee I had already paid for. I spoke with a manager named Erin, who was courteous and helpful. However, when I returned to the store, I was surprised that none of the staff offered an apology for the inconvenience. They simply handed me the original drink I had ordered, in the same size, with no acknowledgment of the poor experience.
At a minimum, I would have expected a sincere apology. Given the circumstances, a coupon, a complimentary drink, or even an upgrade in size would have demonstrated some effort to make things right. Instead, there was no indication that anyone cared about retaining a loyal customer.
I have been a consistent customer for a long time, but experiences like this make it difficult to continue supporting this location. The staff's lack of professionalism, accountability, and customer care reflects poorly on management and the business as a whole. This version is firm, specific, and more likely to be taken seriously by store management or corporate customer relations.
