  Unfortunately, I have to complain about an extremely uncomfortable and disappointing experience I had while attempting to return items at Food Lion. I returned approximately $30.22 worth of merchandise, all within the store’s return timeframe. From the beginning of the transaction, the associate assisting me was condescending, rude, and appeared as though he did not want to assist me. I was told that the refund could simply be placed on a gift card. Based on my understanding of Food Lion’s return policy, this did not seem correct, so I respectfully asked to speak with a manager. Unfortunately, my interaction with the manager was no better. Instead of helping resolve the situation, I felt as though I was being treated as if I had done something wrong. The manager was sarcastic and dismissive when discussing my Apple Pay payment information. I attempted to explain that Apple Pay card numbers can change and that Visa card numbers associated with Apple Pay may not necessarily match the physical card information. Rather than taking my explanation seriously or attempting to assist me, the manager laughed at me directly. I found this extremely disrespectful, embarrassing, and unprofessional. This was a simple return of approximately $30.22 worth of merchandise. I should not have had to feel humiliated or treated like I was doing something suspicious simply because I was trying to understand how my refund would be processed. I have never experienced this type of treatment during a return before, and I am highly disappointed by the way both employees handled the situation. Regardless of the store’s return procedures, customers deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. I would appreciate for this incident to be reviewed, including the conduct of both the associate and the manager involved. I would also like clarification regarding Food Lion’s policy for refunds when the original purchase was made through Apple Pay, including whether a refund must be issued to the original payment method or may be placed on a gift card. I hope Food Lion takes this complaint seriously and addresses the customer-service concerns raised by this experience. The amount of the return was small, but the way I was treated was unacceptable. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
