Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

Completely unaffiliated with the similarly named places in Cabarrus County, this right here is the original from Texas and it now serves Moore County! That said, this was my first time to either one, and I left here pretty impressed! I had a triple burger and oh my word, that burger was delectable! Scrumptious! Luscious! Delicious! I do feel like the cheese may have been responsible for most of the awesome taste, but all the same, McDonald's better watch out, because my heart (and appetite) for fast food hamburgers may have just been taken! ...But then there were the fries. Trust me, I've had far worse in the fries department, but I will say that the fries felt a bit lacking. They tasted fresh and salty, but if Whataburger had the superior patties, then I'd say McDonald's might have the superior fries. The ketchup was also... different. One more thing to note is that I ordered a chocolate milkshake, expecting to get that AND a drink, but they misinterpreted that as meaning to get a milkshake INSTEAD of a drink. Eh, no big deal.

I am originally from Texas and enjoyed my experience here at this location. Me and my family had a huge order and the girl in the grey shirt guessing a manager, I think her name was Grace, she was absolutely the best. She pulled tables together for our family to eat together and never lost her smile even with the chaos. She was very patient, calm, and had a great attitude even with her employees. She made sure everyone left with a smile and a full belly. The kids keep saying they want to go back to see their friend. Amazing job southern pines!!

TLDR: Burgers: 6.5/10 Chicken strips: 7/10 Boneless wings: 2.5/10 Onion rings 8/10 Fries: 7/10 This was our first time at this new location and we sampled the menu. We went at lunch time on Saturday. It was busy, we wanted peak experience for quality and accuracy. The burgers are decent. We ordered an original whataburger(add cheese, ketchup mayo, remove onions) and a the Whatavalue burger that had cheese and bacon the exact way it was supposed to come. Original whataburger had onions, and the bacon cheese burger had no bacon. So both burgers were wrong. The burgers are pretty solid all things considering. Patties aren't bad. Not a fan of just mustard though, i would definitely recommend adding ketchup and or Mayo. The items we liked the most were the chicken tenders and onion rings. Both had a nice crisp. But you needed sauce for the chicken for sure. Ranch is nothing to write home about. Definitely on par with BK/Wendy's Ranch. The Rings can stand on their own without sauce. Speaking of sauce, the boneless wings were drowned in sauce. Like brutally. Id never order these again. It was a bathtub of buffalo sauce with a splash of boneless wings. Fries seemed very McD's like. Overall, this is not a bad place to be at if you have nowhere to go at 2am. I just dont see myself going out of my way for this food. The staff was nice, and looked happy even in a busy environment.

Currently stationed in NC with the Army but originally from Texas so having a Whataburger nearby was like music in my soul. All the employees during my visit today 06/26/2026 were very welcoming but Gabe really stood out he gave me a nice greeting and was very meticulous when taking my order to make sure he got it all correct. I always love Whataburger but this locations staff really made it a great experience. 10/10 definitely recommend

I was looking forward to the opening since I had never eaten at one previously. Overall, it was average. My wife got an egg, bacon and cheese on a biscuit and it was pretty good. She also got the hash browns which were similar tasting to McDonald's. I got the double burger with cheese. It was wide and flat for a double burger. As soon as I picked it up, it started dripping juice and never stopped. The flavor was similar to that of Wendy's. Between the juice, and the size of the bun, it started falling apart 1/2 way through. It was also an extra $1.20 for 2 slices of cheese, which is ridiculous. The fries were disappointing. They looked like McDonalds fries but these looked like left overs as they were 1-2 inches in length for the most part. They were soggy and drooped when picked up. They didn't have much flavor. For a place that some people rave about, I don't get it. I'd much rather get a Wendy's double with a real baked potato, at no extra cost. I don't get these other reviews. 44 before me and 90% just say how great the workers were by name. It's great that the staff is friendly but without talking about the food, reviews are worthless.
