My husband and I went to the Smithfield Outback this evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. They asked if we were celebrating anything special, and we told them it was our anniversary. Tabitha was an amazing server, and added a lot of touches that made us feel special. She brought a centerpiece to the table, and was very attentive throughout the meal. They brought us a complimentary anniversary dessert to share. Tabitha even gave us a handwritten anniversary card!

Ordered online for curbside pick up. As soon as we pulled in an employee came and asked our name and went to check our order. Got a text a short time later that our order was ready, before I could respond the young lady (Alaina) was coming out the door with it. Everything went very well and very positive and polite employees really do make a difference, at least this visit it did.

Went in for dinner on my birthday. They were pretty packed at 8pm on a Friday night. We each ordered a steak medium but one was well done and the other was a little rare. Not worth complaining as they were so slammed that it would have taken too much time. It wasn't bad other than the steaks just a little off.

The waitress was okay everything else sucked. I cannot comment on the food because I never received my food. I got on the wait list at 1:09, I was seated by 1:20. Ordered my daughter’s food which was a kids chicken finger and fries. Ordered my meal about 3 minutes later. My daughter’s food is out in under 10 minutes, about 10 minutes later, my salad came. Sat there, sat there, sat there with a 2 year old mind you. Never received any updates on my food. By 2:30 I left enough money on the table to cover my daughter’s food, side salad and my drink and a modest tip and walked out. I’m 40 years old and have never walked out of a restaurant before. The manager never came over to check on things either. Horrible experience, and I used to love Outback Steakhouse, the service has really went downhill for the company as a whole.
Last night we went to Outback in Smithfield, and I can honestly say I will never go back.
From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. The first hostess never put our name on the waiting list, so we waited much longer than we should have while people who arrived after us were being seated. After she left, another hostess came over. I explained that I had seen other parties being called before us, and that’s when she realized our name had never been added to the list. I calmly told her I was disappointed with the lack of service. I understand the first hostess may have been in a hurry to leave, but the second hostess also had an attitude when I simply explained why I was frustrated.
After we were finally seated, it took a very long time before our waitress came to our table. Our salads arrived, but we still didn’t have any silverware for several minutes, so we couldn’t even start eating.
Then we waited a long time for our main meals. After all that waiting, we were told they had run out of sweet potatoes and had to choose another side. That should have been mentioned when we first placed our order, not after we had already been waiting.
Looking back, I should have realized from the beginning that the service was going to be bad. The entire experience was poorly managed from start to finish.
Management really needs to do a better job training their employees. Good customer service starts at the front door, and unfortunately, this location failed in almost every part of our visit.
