Visited for the first time on 5/15/26 around 5:20 PM there were several people ahead of us but the line moved fast and the food was great and they had plenty of it and no one had to wait for food to get made, the place was well staffed which helped with the speedy line. I don’t know why I am seeing so many bad reviews I think people are just complainers and aren’t cutting a business a break that just opening and drawling a lot of business. Portion sizes were great (see photo) and everything tasted good and fresh. I will be back! I hope this is one of many of these kinds of chains to come to Sanford.

Ordered online and after getting home and pulling out the burrito I ordered I was shocked to see that it looked like it was made for a small child. No chipotle I’ve been to has such small servings. I understand it’s a new shop but after going there three times now it’s all been the same small servings. Also when going inside it’s extremely cramped and people have been using the door by the restroom to cut the line and the employees haven’t said anything about it. Since the place has been so packed the floors and tables and fountain drinks are getting gross and sticky. I’m glad there is a new food chain in town but hope things get better soon.

For this being a brand new location: 3221 NC 87 HWY, Sanford nc 27332. I was really excited to finally have a chipotle not in Fayetteville or Apex NC. Walking in you would think that it’s very highly rated because it was busy. However there were several employees just standing around while others were rushing in and around areas. There’s too many people behind the counters to be successful. The people in front of us got rice scrapped from the bottom of the container before a new container was brought out. The music in the store is almost too loud to hear the server behind the counter as well as for them to hear our order. Fixing our order was very rushed through and passed down the line like we were being an inconvenience to them. At the checkout the young man had most of our order on the screen and my husband had to ask if the steak burrito was added he looked very confused and hesitated to add it to our bill. When we went to fill up our drinks the soda fountain was out of syrups and was over flowing with ice that had been dumped by several other customers. When I asked an employee if they could fill the cup with the fountain from the drive through he told me they don’t have a fountain back there. The Frescas tasted like soapy water. We decided to take our food to go versus eat at the restaurant and when we got to our car we realized the steak burrito was not added to our bags. But put in somebody else’s bag and given to them. When I went back inside to get the burrito they had to remake the burrito and the employee told me sometimes that happens. The burrito was remade very poorly with more rice than anything. When we got home and could eat the rice was undercooked, the black beans were undercooked, the chicken was overcooked and underseasoned. Overall the experience was 1/10 and I would rather travel to the Fayetteville location where it is much busier but overall better. With more training, less employees crowding the area, and formal coaching from corporate this could be an excellent chipotle chain. Portions are not uniform or consistent.

FOOD 3 -The rice was undercooked and the young lady was scraping toppings at the bottom of the pan instead of asking the kitchen staff for more.
SERVICE 3.5 - The cashier was friendly and full of energy and the young gentleman who first started preparing our bowls was friendly and welcoming, he patiently helped us pick our protein. The young lady that added the toppings should be assigned to the back. Black beans and corn were scraped from the bottom of the pan, and there was no lettuce. She didn't ask for more until after serving us.
ATMOSPHERE 2 - This location has not been open a full two weeks, why is it so dirty? The drink area 5/10, inside dining area 6/10, outdoor patio area 3/10, trash overflowing out of the trash bin, food all under the chairs and tables. Why are the tables not being wiped down? We planned on dining in but ended up leaving with our order. The store had plenty of employees around, so no excuse for the uncleanliness.
I will give this location a 2nd try because it was 9pm (1 hr before closing) and I patiently waited for this Chipotle to open in Sanford. Plus it's bringing new jobs and another dining option to the area.

Really disappointed in my experience.
Portion sizes were abysmal like they charge the employees per gram of ingredient or something.
Asked for green salsa they tried giving me the cilantro lime sauce.
Asked for sour cream, guac, and cheese. They confirmed: "Sour cream, guac and cheese?" yup. I get home and open my meal. Apparently I just got the sour cream no guac no cheese.
I know it's opening day and it was busy. But this was just straight disappointing.
EDIT 5/11:
Decided to give them another shot now that they aren't brand new. Portion sizes still abysmal the employees did not follow his own request (they asked to do them 1 at a time and then proceeded to do both of my bowls at the same time until I stopped them). Bowls were dry and unappetizing. I saw him add a drizzle of sour cream but damn you couldn't taste it. Last time I'll eat here. I'd rather drive the 1.5 hr round trip to Fayetteville and actually enjoy my food..
