  It's had better days. It anchored a busy strip mall for more than 30 years. I sometimes still shop there, rarely for the deli. Basics and vegetables and fruit. The Food Lion on Falls and Strickland is younger and more inviting, well lit. A sign of the times.

  I typically visit this Food Lion; and after my June 25, 2026 visit; I felt compelled to write a review...for unfortunate reasons. First, when it comes to all Food Lion stores I have been to over the decades (And, let's add their sister Ahold Delhaize stores across America into this review for good measure), this location needs some improvement; but, the store is not the worst—slightly below average. The positive? The front end staff. The service received there is what I typically get at any Food Lion. A community store indeed! But, why slightly below average? On some visits, the produce can be a miss and perishable selections can have me leaving disappointed (mostly, not worth the price). Sadly, on my June 25, 2026 visit, the expired College Inn Beef Broth (which I caught) and Bass Farm Mild Country Sausage (which I bought) was what broke the camel's back. The broth expired in May 2026, I believe, and the sausage expired on June 22, 2026. If I wanted this quality, I would have purchased this at Apu's Kwik-E-Mart. Luckily, although the DHHS was on the premises after my visit to check out the deli department, the state and county does not check expired goods on Food Lion shelves. I guess corporate in Salisbury wants people to do so, instead. UPDATE: Strike III. Everyone deserves another chance; and on August 1, I returned to this Food Lion to see whether things improved. Answer: I thought so at first. The previously mentioned items were now stocked with unexpired product; but two days after I bought Hampton Farms Salted Peanuts, I discovered a July 13 expiration date on the bag. The peanuts sat on this Food Lion's shelf for OVER TWO AND A HALF WEEKS!!! (Gasps!) OH. MY. GOODNESS! Clearly, there is a management issue somewhere. Customers in the area DO NOT deserve this disrespect! I sure do not! If I am not going back to this store (or any store like this), it's a big deal. This is a highly unacceptable customer experience!
