My experience at Chick-fil-A was mixed. The service was excellent, as it has consistently been for as long as I can remember. However, a couple of things stood out during my most recent visit that I think are worth mentioning. I ordered chicken fingers and a small Sprite with no ice. I generally order drinks without ice because ice takes up a significant amount of the cup and also dilutes the drink, particularly in warm weather. When I received my meal, the Sprite looked unusually light. When I checked the cup, I found that it was only about three-quarters full. It appeared that the drink had been filled to roughly the same level it would have been if ice had been added, rather than filling the cup with the beverage I had actually ordered. If that’s the case, it really illustrates just how much of the cup would normally be occupied by ice rather than the drink itself. I was also disappointed with the chicken fingers. They were very flat and seemed to contain surprisingly little meat. They tasted good, but they simply weren’t filling. I understand that everything costs more these days and that restaurants are dealing with higher expenses. Businesses have to find ways to make their dollars stretch further. But consumers are dealing with exactly the same problem. When we’re paying today’s higher prices for a meal, it’s reasonable to expect that the meal will actually be enough to satisfy us. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t. After paying for my meal at Chick-fil-A, I’m still hungry enough that I’ll have to spend additional money somewhere else to finish eating. That’s disappointing, especially from a restaurant I’ve consistently associated with excellent service and a quality experience.
