I had a very disappointing experience at Taco Bell.
I rarely go to Taco Bell, but I was in a rush and needed to grab food before an appointment, so I stopped at the closest restaurant and went through the drive-thru. I noticed they had a refresher listed as a new item on the menu, so I ordered one. The employee only asked me what size I wanted, and since I wasn’t sure if I would like it, I asked for a regular size.
When I pulled up to the window, a male employee asked for payment and was about to hand me a frozen drink. I asked if it was mine, and he said yes. I told him I had ordered a regular refresher, not a frozen drink.
He closed the window and told the female employee who had taken my order. She was in the middle of taking another customer’s order, but I could clearly see her reaction through the window. She widened her eyes, rolled them, and made it very obvious that she was upset. This was not my mistake, and she knew I was watching.
She then grabbed the frozen drink and slammed it into the trash can, again making it clear she was irritated. She continued making the correct drink with an attitude. At that point, I wanted to leave, but I didn’t want to be rude, so I waited.
When she opened the window, I calmly said, “There’s no reason to get upset. You didn’t ask if I wanted it frozen or regular. If I wanted a frozen drink, I would have said frozen.”
She then started yelling at me and said, “Um, we are busy!” I told her that being busy was not a reason to have an attitude with a customer, especially when the mistake was not mine. I also told her she had poor customer service skills and should not be treating customers that way.
She then yelled, “Mind your own business,” and slammed the drive-thru window shut.
This was extremely unprofessional and unacceptable customer service. I understand restaurants get busy, but that does not excuse rude behavior, yelling at a customer, rolling eyes, slamming items, or slamming the window. This experience made me feel very disrespected, and it is exactly why I usually avoid this location.
