I received the service I’ve unfortunately come to expect in Kinston: poor — until it got better. When I walked into Dunkin’/Baskin-Robbins, several employees were standing behind the counter. One employee was helping a lady with a two-drink order, while several others appeared to be talking among themselves. I stood there for about five minutes without anyone acknowledging me or asking what I needed. Then the guy working the drive-thru noticed me. He asked if someone was making my order. I told him no. He immediately washed his hands, came over, apologized, and took care of me. He explained that some of the staff were training. I ordered a scoop of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and a scoop of Gold Medal Ribbon. The ice cream was delicious. The problem wasn’t the product. It was watching two employees work on one customer’s drink order while three others had enough time to stand behind the counter talking — but apparently not enough time to acknowledge a customer standing directly in front of them. To the manager’s credit, I did not “Karen out” and demand to speak to the manager. 😂 He witnessed what happened himself. He apologized and refused to let me pay for my ice cream. I appreciated that. More importantly, he recognized the problem without a customer having to create a scene. I genuinely want to see this business succeed. Kinston needs businesses like this. The ice cream was great, and the manager handled the situation well once he saw what was happening. Unfortunately, the staff is going to need considerably more training — particularly when it comes to acknowledging customers and basic customer service. I sat down in the dining room and enjoyed my ice cream at the cleanest table I could find. Picture included. That brings me to one final piece of old-fashioned workplace wisdom: If there’s time to lean, there’s time to clean. Great ice cream. Good recovery by the manager. The staff has some work to do.

I really enjoyed my experience at Dunkin. The employees were fabulous. While I was there, I observed several young employees who appeared to be high school or college students. They were making a good effort and trying their best to do a good job. I really appreciate their effort and willingness to learn. My constructive feedback is mainly for management. I believe young employees need encouragement, patience, and some space to perform and build their confidence. Managers can guide and correct them when necessary, but giving them opportunities to handle responsibilities on their own can help them grow and become more confident. I also noticed that the manager could be more friendly and welcoming toward customers. A warm greeting, a positive attitude, and simply making customers feel welcome can make a big difference in the overall experience. I understand that managing a busy store can be stressful, but good customer interaction is an important part of creating a positive atmosphere. I also noticed that managers MOST worked at the high table in the customer seating area for long periods of time. I understand that managers have work to do, but customers also need those tables. If possible, it would be better for managers to use in their office or designated workspace so the public seating remains available for customers. Another area that really needs improvement is the entrance, exit, and parking design. While I was visiting, I noticed that entering and leaving the Dunkin can feel difficult and potentially unsafe because of the way the parking area and traffic flow are designed. The concrete layout does not feel very customer-friendly, and it can be challenging to enter, exit, and navigate the parking area safely. I hope the owners or management can consider improving the traffic flow, entrance, exit, and parking arrangement to make it safer and easier for customers. Overall, I think the employees are doing a fabulous job. My comments are intended as constructive feedback. I believe this Dunkin has good employees and potential, and with supportive management and improvements to the parking and traffic layout, the customer experience could be even better.

Always very slow. Don't seem like they care about the walk in customers. I generally get the wrong drink I ordered. I used to go to Dunkin Donuts everyday when I lived and worked in Pa. They were good. This Kinston location is bad. I only come here for my granddaughters but I will find another place to go. Hope this helps.

They stiffed us on an order of 50 munchkins. They only gave us 38. 😞 when 5 kids are looking forward to donuts and only get a few each, that's super disappointing. 😞

Edit: I went back to redeem another coupon and the associates at the window were super nice and apologized for the managers behavior. I went to get my coffee this morning using a coupon from my coupon booklet that I received at the grand opening and that I have been using for 6 months now. The new “manager” at the window was very rude and didn’t know what she was talking about as she tried to deny my order of a medium iced coffee with cream and caramel added. She said “caramel cost extra” but it’s free to add on the app with a medium coffee in the first place, and I’ve been getting the same coffee every time I’ve used a coupon. She then didn’t even know how to use the coupon, had to have the associate show her, and then still told me that next time I use one I can’t get caramel again even though the coupon worked. She was telling the associate to not let people add any flavors too. She needs more training ASAP because that’s unacceptable behavior for 6:30 in the morning.
