  Have shopped here for 7 years, several time per week and spent a ridiculous amount of money. Once they installed self checkout I have exclusively used that regardless of how much or little is in my cart bc I cannot stand the interactions w the majority of cashiers and how they bag my groceries. In the last 2 weeks I’ve gone through regular checkout due to a shoulder injury and quickly remembered why I stopped First time was fine, she was pleasant and bagged things properly. Second time, the kid LITERALLY didn’t say a word to me. Not even the total or “thanks have a nice day”. Yesterday it was a woman checked and male bagger. AGAIN, no greeting whatsoever. They didn’t even stop talking to each other as she started scanning my stuff. Even the lady behind me gave me a funny look halfway through as if to say, they suck. She took forever bc they spent the entire interaction talking about bands and country music. I kept seeing him put heavy bags in the cart while the bags were tearing bc he didn’t double bag! Their bags are the worst in town. Not saving the environment with paper thin bags if I have to double bag. Had to ask him to double bag to which he barely acknowledged. Like do yall not get breaks where you can chat or have each others numbers?? What really pisses me off is the lack of proper bagging. Tomatoes with CANS of food?? Bread and tortilla chips smashed in with a pineapple. Dry and cold goods together. Again, this is why I always do self checkout. They didn’t say a word to me except the total and a mumbled “have a nice day” in between their continued banter. They did the same to the lady behind me with no greeting. I don’t need a deep convo believe me,I actually hate small talk. Yet another benefit of self checkout. However your JOB is customer service. A simple hello, did you find everything ok when spending thousands here would be great. This was all an issue damn near every time I shopped before self checkout. The turnover of employees mixed with them having the personality of a rock is crazy. How does that interview go? Idc if I have to wait at self checkout while other lines are wide open, I’m sticking to self checkout

  It is incredibly embarrassing, seeing KIDS, that work at this location, sit on the electric wheelchairs for disabled or in need of help people, just because there is nothing better to do. To sit down on those chairs, when there actual people that truly need that to navigate, is embarrassing to see it be used to sit while on the job. There are plenty of better things to do, at this location, “if there is nothing to do”, there is plenty of things to do that sit down and chit chatting while sitting on some wheelchairs. Absolutely embarrassing and unprofessional. This used to be a very nice pristine location.

  🤨 🛒 NO MORE [SELF-CHECKING] OUT MY ITEMS ANYWHERE!! This is my neighborhood Food Lion, and I normally have a 5⭐ shopping experience there, and the cashier's are personable. The cashier's normally are standing at the back of the cash register belt waiting for the next customer, which I find commendable- the reason for -2 stars this time is per this review. I usually have a cart 🛒 because I have at least 10+ items normally, and I [ALWAYS] go to the CASHIER line. WELL, THIS TIME I didn't get a cart because I was just at this Food Lion the other day. I rarely go more than once a month as I get my bulk of groceries from Wally World. However, I only wanted some refrigerated cooked chicken 🍗 wings from the Food Lion Deli section because Wally World's Deli cooked chicken is more expensive. See, some shoppers will shop around for the best prices, especially in smaller towns with grocery shopping options. Then I wanted some 🍫 chocolate cake from the bakery 🥯, but didn't want to pay $8.99 for a small 🎂 cake from the bakery; and a slice 🍰 is $4.99 or close to it, so I went and picked up a DIY box of 🍫chocolate cake mix and 🍫 chocolate frosting for $4.00 together. Then I wanted Mike and Ikes candy, which was $.29 more than 💵 Dollar 🌲Tree, but the Dollar Tree is on another side of town, unlike Walmart. Then I decided to buy some dark 🍫 chocolate almonds- my usual snack- don't judge my snacks 🙎🏾. I like a variety of snacks 🤷🏾. Like I said, I buy my bulk groceries from Wally World, and these were incidentals. That was 5 unintentional items with no basket 🛒. I HESITANTLY decided to go to the SELF-CHECKOUT for 5 items. I already STOPPED using self-checkout's at ALL STORES, BUT with THIS Food Lion being so "friendly", bright, and open at the checkout, I began SELF-CHECKING my 5 item's against my "NO SELF-CHECKOUT POLICY", AND this young attendant began CIRCLING 🔁 around the SELF-CHECKOUT area at least the FIVE TIMES it took me to SCAN EACH ITEM. It was quite empty in the store in the AM, so I thought 🤔 it was ODD seeing this attendant dart back and forth. I kept seeing 👀 them walk back and forth quickly 🚶🏻, and I felt uncomfortable 😣. I was thinking 💭, "I only have 5 items, what is this person doing darting back and forth", and NO, they weren't assisting anyone at the self-checkout. I saw one other person self-checking out, so I don't know if this is what attendants do at Food Lion self-checkout's, but it is very uncomfortable being I am technically doing their cashier job🤦🏾. I scanned my rewards card, paid for my items and left 😣 uncomfortable. SO, I WILL NEVER, NO WHERE SELF-CHECKOUT AGAIN!! If an attendant has to swarm around the self-checkout like a busy bee 🐝, then throw away self-checkout's because who is trying to steal 5 items??!! Plus, don't the self-checkout's have camera's 📸??? Don't the store have camera's 📸?? Usually like in Walmart, the self-checkout attendant is standing in one spot, they aren't circling 🔁 you like a potential thief 😠. Like I said, I was just in the same Food Lion the other day, and the cashier was very personable👍🏾, but going through self-checkout this one time, it felt personal 👎🏾 like I was being closely watched with only 5 items. So, I am DONE with ALL SELF-CHECKOUTS EVERYWHERE, I DON'T CARE IF I HAVE ONE ITEM, I WILL WAIT IN LINE!!!! I CLEARLY SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN TREATMENT EVEN THOUGH THE MONEY 💵 I SPEND IS STILL THE SAME 😒, WHETHER IT IS THROUGH THE CASHIER OR SELF-CHECKOUT LINE. I AM BIG ON CUSTOMER SERVICE ETIQUETTE BECAUSE I WORKED IN THAT FIELD, SO I WILL CALL OUT MY EXPERIENCE IF IT IS POOR, BECAUSE I WAS TRAINED IN EXCELLENCE. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH BEING WATCHED WHILE I SCAN, BUT THAT SWARMING AROUND WAS TOO MUCH. THEY ARE BETTER OFF JUST OPENING A REGISTER! FOOD LION 🦁 IN HOLLY SPRINGS, I USED TO SEE YOU AS A 5-STAR, BUT NOW I SEE YOU AS A 3-STAR. YOU ARE MY LOCAL FOOD LION, SO I WILL CONTINUE TO GET A "FEW" ITEMS THERE LIKE FRESH PRODUCE 🥬🍎, but I will be going through the cashier line, where I am treated like a valuable and local customer 😎!!

  Their prices are more than Harris Teeter and it sits between 2. I make the drive to either Harris Teeter over this food lion. Somehow the chicken is always rotten and smells and their meat prices are more than Harris Teeter. I mean this Food Lion staff knows it’s in Holly Springs and not Garner. Old and dirty over all with over priced products that are close to expiring or have expired. Worth driving an extra 8 minutes to Harris Teeter!
