  First time here. Just stumbled apon it while walking around town and it was amazing! Definitely the best Italian food I had had in a long time and coming from NY that is hard to find here in NC. I can't wait to go back again.

  Our waitress, Willow, was SO WONDERFUL!! She gave me an honest opinion regarding a specific dish-- and BOY was she RIGHT! The grouper picatta with mushroom risotto was SO GOOD! It was unfortunately very loud (by nature) in the restaurant, so we sat in the bar area with our backs to the restaurant section. This made the noise more palatable... (yeah, I said "palatable" 🙄). We will go there again, expecting it to be even better on a NON-HOLIDAY weekend!! (We visited July 3rd!)

  Restaurant lovely, quaint. Our server Willow was very accommodating, friendly, pleasant with a great smile. I had the Carolina Trout- which was very tasty, unfortunately cooked in too much butter for my liking. The broccoli and asparagus were good, but again all cooked in butter. My husband had the Eggplant Parmesian which was delicious, but a rather small serving. We would try again, just order different meals.

  Mezzaluna used to have my favorite salad in town - an Italian chopped salad. According to Google: A chopped salad features all ingredients diced into uniform, bite-sized pieces so you get a bit of everything in every bite. A regular salad keeps leaves and vegetables closer to their natural size, relying on whole or large-cut pieces. According to Mezzaluna, a chopped salad is way too much brown lettuce in a bowl, with ingredients in individual piles around the rim. It used to come on a really cold rectangular plate and was all the things - cold, crunchy, acidic, fatty, sharp, salty. Now it's just a sad pile. Added chicken for an additional $8 and it was less than half a chicken breast, and lacked seasoning. Coconut shrimp needed salt. Bruschetta/mozzarella/bread/balsamic also needed salt desperately. We waited a really long time for our boxes and our check at lunch when the place was just about 25% full. Very expensive, just not good anymore.

  We picked this place with a GF friend. They DO NOT have a dedicated gluten free pizza crust, per our server. Salads, side veggies were the choices. No gluten free pasta either. I do not know where the google reviewer got their information but it emphasized to me that I should have called beforehand. Yes, their site says they do not have a dedicated GF menu. That being said, the salads are huge, my friend had a GF sandwich by eliminating the bread, I had the salmon with risotto which was delicious. Atmosphere is spacious so you can have private conversations even in the middle of the floor. I really liked the place, I just wished I had made a better effort in searching for a GF place.
