  I had a fantastic experience at Melvin’s at Riverside! The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing, and the addition of karaoke singers belting out old-school R&B jams created such a fun, nostalgic vibe. A special shout-out to my waiter, Samantha—she was absolutely wonderful and very accommodating. She recommended the flounder, and it turned out to be amazing. Highly recommend stopping by for a great meal and a great time!

  Okay, so I told my wife I wanted soul food and asked our hotel hostess, what was the best place in town? And she said, melvin's at riverside, so we took the three mile drive and pulled up at melvin's, seemed to be a pretty happening spot with all the cars in the parking lot. WELL I WAS RIGHT THIS PLACE HAS GOT FLAVA!!!! BIG CROWD OF CRUNK PEOPLE HAVING A BLAST DOING KAROAKE!!! THEY WAS SANGIN IN THE BUILDING!!!! WE SAT OUTSIDE ON THE DECK, BECAUSE WE BROUGHT OUR STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER, WHICH WE CALL OUR (ZEN) and everyone in the building loved him. Except for the little cat on the deck in the back that jumps on people's table and asks for food. When he came over to our table, our dog made him run. Food was good atmosphere was great. Vibe was on point Melvin, you really do got a great establishment here. Keep on rocking, we shall return Vern.

  Have you ever eaten ribs so good that you want to slap ya momma? I have. They come from this restaurant. Nanner pudding to die for. Mac n cheese to die for. And killer greens. I am fighting to stay awake from being so full and satisfied. Take out. Don't miss out on a great experience.

  The food is really good. I didn't get to experience the fish and grits, but the other 2 plates I did. Mine was the 65.00 platter that came with brisket, 4 bone pork ribs, smoked sausage, smoked chunks of chicken. I got 3 sides; Mac&Chz, collars and bkd beans. Everything I tasted was sooo good. Usually at an independent restaurant either the meats are good, but the sides are mediocre or vice versa. Melvin's did not disappoint! And you get complementary ice cream!!! Where dey do dat at!!!! And our waitresses, Samantha and Genevieve were welcoming and definitely took care of us!!!

  Heard so many good things about this place I finally decided to try it and I must say that my experience was not the best. I purchased a croaker fish and popcorn shrimp plate as well as a whiting fish plate with fries for someone else. My fish was horrible, the hush puppies were nasty, corn bread delicious, shrimp just okay. The end result involved trying to drown the fish with hot sauce just to attempt to it, yet two full plates costing $57 ended up being thrown in the trash, money wasted, hope everyone else palette and experience is better than mine.
