I've tried the chains (Bojangles, Popeyes, etc), every black-owned southern restaurant in Durham, every result that comes up when you type "Fried Chicken Durham.... Fried Chicken Raleigh..... Fried Chicken Near Me" in Google Maps, every viral joint posted on IG and TikTok. I'd given up and decided I'd just have to cook it myself moving forward, flabbergasted that it's been THIS hard to find fried chicken in a southern state. We randomly needed fried chicken for a meal we had planned tonight and neither of us wanted to cook. Krispy Krunchy came up in the results. My husband is from Durham and was like "I know where that is. That's in a gas station." I'm from NY and am used to finding the best food in the most random places, so I said "Let's try it." They only had 2 reviews, but maybe we were about to find a gem. Well, we did. This was the best fried chicken I've had (outside of home cooking) since I moved here a decade ago. It was hot, fresh, seasoned perfectly, had the perfect crisp and color, cooked thoroughly, moist, juicy. It was everything I've been looking for. The location was clean, the price was reasonable, the staff was friendly, and we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. I should have taken a pic, but our plates didnt last long lol. But I will DEFINITELY be back and add some. I honestly didn't want to leave a review and keep this place secret lol, but I had to put yall on.
