The building interior is not warm and cozy. It needs warm, happy colors and tasteful decorations to give it "personality". It feels like a hospital cafeteria in the 80's. They had just opened, and we were the only diners in the restaurant. The food was very good. I had some kind of Mexican omelette. It was delicious. Our waiter gave good service, but stood at the bar, staring at his phone 90% of the time.

Best nachos in durham
After a 3hr drive to Durham, NC, for medical appts, my husband and I decided to pick up dinner from a conveniently located restaurant that was steps from our hotel. Kahlovera Mexican Bar & Grill proved to be the wrong choice for us. Our meal, consisting of supreme nachos, chicken quesadilla and a side of guacamole was $45 and we paid in cash with a $5 tip. We took the food to our hotel room and when we opened the bag, we found no napkins included. Also, no $7 guacamole side and the salsa was a partially filled 2 ounce container. Disappointing, to say the least. With medical appts ahead of us, we ate some of the food and found it inferior to our local Mexican restaurants. Worst of all, minutes after consuming, we experienced gastro distress.
I called the restaurant to ask about the missing guac and they apologized and said they remembered us and we could come back for it. No offer to deliver, even though it would have been a 5 min trip to the hotel and back.
So sorry to post a negative review, but hope future guests will receive better service and food.
Had the nachos. They had chicken fajita topping, jalapeño, queso salsa and lettuce. Wished for some beans and cheddar too but it was over all very good. Quick good service.

Wow, today I want to share an extraordinary experience I had at this restaurant. There was just one server and one cook; it was the first time I’ve ever seen such a perfect connection between two people; they were handling at least ten active tables, yet everything went flawlessly. There were no delays with either the food or the drinks, something that even caught the attention of the other customers. I had a black margarita, and my wife had a fire margarita, a creation of the server himself, since she didn't want a standard jalapeño one. It was a unique experience; definitely a 10/10.
