  In this part of North Carolina in addition to a limited number of Publix Markets there are two other commonly available grocery stores: Ingles; and Food Lion. Ingles seems to be more like Publix Markets--large, clean and upscale. Food Lion is generally lower priced and has a more limited offering. Their prices are more in line with Walmart, although they have a more limited offering. Food Lion stores are kept clean and are generally well stocked with most daily use items. For a family of two people, we found we could save about $25-$40 per week by shopping at Food Lion rather than Ingles. However, when we are looking for a specialty item, we still hit Ingles first.

  Shopped here recently and got some of THE worst customer service- EVER. The shelf says assorted bakery goods for 2.49. The cake we bought was right next to this tag, with no tag underneath the cake. Which makes it look like cake should be 2.49. I showed this to the customer service guy and the grocery stock guy who said- 'my tag is gone I have to get a new tag.' It rang up 6.49, and this Food Lion refused to honor the posted price of 2.49. My local grocery store (not food lion) would honor the posted price in this situation and sell me the cake for 2.49. Because it was their mistake. Instead, Food Lion ripped me off 4 bucks, saying the price tag on the tag on the cake itself- says 6.49 is the right price. Everyone knows the posted price on the store shelf or in the ad, always is the right price. Not the sticker on the cake itself. Otherwise Food Lion would have to update every tag on every last item they sell. IF I ever shop here again, I will only buy the sale items, because apparently the can rip customers off, charging whatever they want to. At least with a flyer ad- you know what is the right price. 1 star for poor customer service. Food Lion should have honored the 2.49 price, because they did- screw up. It's a shame as Food Lion is usually pretty good about things, but not this time. We'll be looking at other options. Why people still need an MVP card these days too, is just ridiculous also.

  It should not take 15 minutes to make it 80% through checkout before we pick up my kid and go! Manage your checkout lines better or ill just go to ingles.
